Kindness Really Does Matter!
Thank you to Mr. Donnellon and our ASB students for organizing our Kindness Week this year! The California Department of Education, in partnership with The Great Kindness Challenge®
(GKC), encouraged all California’s school communities to participate in the GKC, January 22–26,
2024 and apply to be a Kindness Certified School. Sullivan Middle School accepted this challenge and "As a result of your school's active participation in The Great Kindness Challenge, we are delighted to recognize you as a Kindness Certified School."
"Kindness really does matter!" Thank you Wildcats for your dedication to kindness everyday!

HELP US CELEBRATE OUR SCHOOL COUNSELOR AND SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGISTS!
This week we are celebrating our School Counselor, Mrs. Gresbrink and our School Psychologist, Ms. Fox and Ms. Greensky.
Middle School Counselor: Mrs. Keri Gresbrink!
School counselors are professionally trained and California certified. Their role is to identify and address student needs that will ultimately formulate into academic and personal success. Our main goal is to advocate for our students to ensure they have a positive and successful middle school experience. Counselors work with students individually, in small groups, and within the classroom setting to support and assist them in their academic, social, emotional, and personal development. Counselors also are the liaison between students, parents, and administrators. Often times, the counselor will facilitate the needs of the student to identify and minimize barriers that stand in the way of student success. Our counselors are important sources of information for referrals and outside resources.
The counselors offer support in areas including:
- Peer relationships
- Decision making skills
- Communication and conflict resolution
- Fostering self-awareness, acceptance, and diversity
- Teaching time management and organizational skills
- Crisis intervention for students and parents
- Academic Planning
- Individual and Group Counseling

23-24 SMS Parent and Family Engagement Policy and Title 1 School Compact.
I have attached our completed Parent and Family Engagement Policy and Title 1 School Compact. These documents are commitments from the school and parents in how we support our students at Sullivan Middle School. These documents also outline parent and school engagement in support of student achievement and how the school is providing parent support and opportunities to be involved. As we know the more support a student receives the higher success our students will achieve.
Thank you Wildcat Families for your help in creating our school Parent and Family Engagement Policy and Title 1 School Compact. We were able to meet with our School Site Council, English Learners Advisory Committee, PTO, and other parents who were interested during Coffee with the Principal to gather input and create these documents with guidance from our school community. We will review these documents at the beginning of each school year and gather input to ensure we are working together to continue to support our Wildcats.
Thank you again for your continued support and feedback! I appreciate YOU!

Important information from the California Department of Education.
BUSD Families,
The California Department of Education passed legislation this past July that all school districts must remind parents and legal guardians of all students in the Bonsall Unified School District of their responsibilities for keeping firearms out of the hands of children as required by California law. Please take a moment to review the memo below.

SECURED CAMPUS AND ENTRANCE INFORMATION
ATTENTION PARENTS!
We are excited to announce that we extended our safety and security for all staff and students by installing a fence around the front of our school! Visitors will be required to bring ID and check in at the Welcome Booth before anyone is permitted on campus.
Only emergency vehicles, buses, those with handicap placards, and those with other special placards have access to the upper lot, emergency lane closest to the front of our schools. You will need to show your placard to Campus Security.
This decision to enforce our existing parking lot plan aligns with the recommendations of our community safety partners and will increase our ability to maintain a safe and secure site:
- When dropping students off, please use the lower levels of the parking lot.
- When visiting either the middle or the high school office, please park in the lower levels, bring your ID to the Welcome booth, and check in with the appropriate staff.
We appreciate your partnership and support in our efforts to provide the highest levels of safety for our students
