Discovery Middle School is now ranked #2 in the State of Indiana for top performing middle schools (this is out of about 300). Our teachers continue to be prepared to provide the most targeted, engaging lessons to help all our students reach their fullest learning potential. ISSMA Results for Band and Orchestra!
Congratulations to all the Band and Orchestra students who performed at the ISSMA JME Contest this past Friday and Saturday.
All bands received Gold ratings with both Symphonic and Honors also achieving "With Distinction".
All orchestras received Gold ratings with the Beginning, String and Honors Orchestras also achieving "With Distinction."
Mrs. Oppenheim, Mr. Weaver, Ms. Weirich and the DMS Administrative Team are all very proud of all the hard work and dedication that all the students put into this achievement.
Host a High School Exchange Student
Host Families Provide:
-A bed (can share a room) and 3 meals a day
-Transportation to and from school (they can ride the school bus)
-Treat the Student as part of the Family
Exchange Students Provide:
-Their Own Money for extra expenses
-Have their own medical insurance and go through a medical screening
-Are top students in their country, advanced academically, and follow high standards for conduct
-Dream of being part of your family and experience being an American high school student!

21st Century Scholars: Apply Now!
21st Century Scholars: Apply Now!
- Indiana’s 21st Century Scholars program is an early-college promise program designed to make college more affordable for students.
- Eligible students who meet requirements receive a two- or four-year scholarship that pays up to 100% tuition at an eligible Indiana college or university.
- All 7th and 8th grade students are eligible to apply, if they are a resident of Indiana. Students MUST apply by June 30th of their 8th grade year.

Community Fitness Opportunities:
As the weather quickly shifts from fall to winter, the school district is happy to pilot free fitness opportunities for the P-H-M community. This will take place four (4) days per week at the sites listed below.
Who is eligible to participate: The P-H-M Adult Community and Staff (no students). This includes residents of the school district and non-resident parents/guardians of attending students.
What: Access to walking/jogging tracks, open gym/basketball courts, and weight room
When: Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays at the sites listed below. Note: The fitness centers will be closed during designated school recess dates.
Questions? Please see the assigned staff at each site to help answer your questions.
This is a reminder that the fitness center opportunities will be closed when school is not in session. This included this Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. These will resume beginning on Wednesday 11.30.22 @ Discovery.

Reporting Student Absences
Another option is to go to your Skyward Family Access Account and follow these steps:
- Click on the Attendance Tile for the child who will be absent.
- Click on the Absence Requests Tab
- Click Add Absence Request on the right side of the screen
- Enter Start and End Date
- Check All Day if the absence will be the entire school day
- Attendance Reason - Choose from the drop down menu
- Comment - Add any information regarding the absence reason
- Click SAVE in the upper right hand corner
