Principal's Message
Good afternoon Canby High School Students & Families,
It has been another successful and busy week at CHS. Our Canby Girl’s swim team finished 2nd at the 5A OSAA State championships for the first time, and the boy’s team finished in 5th. We are honored to have two state champions: Kali Mull in the 200 freestyle and Quincy Taliaferro in the 500 freestyle. Our boy’s wrestling team dominated the NWOC championships, winning the district title. We have 9 individual district champions, and 17 grapplers qualified for the state tournament. See more information about our talented swimmers and wrestlers below.
Additionally, The CHS Robotics team toured the Leviant Manufacturing plant this week to see industrial robotics. Our basketball teams are finishing up their seasons, with both teams vying for state playoff berths. They will be in action at Pack the Gym this Friday, and students will enjoy Winterfest this Saturday. Our Unified Basketball team continues to amaze and inspire. Their last game is at home on Monday, 2/26, and our thespians are busy preparing for their spring musical “Into the Woods,” which premieres on Thursday, 2/29.
There are approximately four weeks left in trimester 2. It is very important to stay on top of assignments and grades. Encourage your student to open their Studentvue and show you their progress. Please remember that attendance is key in keeping up with classes and not falling behind. Feel free to email teachers with questions or concerns. We appreciate your partnership!
Have a Wonderful Week!
Best,
Cari Sloan

Important Information
Attendance and Sick Students:
To ensure the accuracy and efficiency of our attendance process, please remember the following guidelines:
If your student needs to leave class for an appointment or because they are sick, inform the attendance office 30 MINUTES PRIOR to leave time. This will help us ensure that your student receives a note to leave class in a timely manner. Students will not be excused without a note.
Pre-excused absence forms need to be turned into the Attendance Secretary 24 hours PRIOR to leaving for the absence.
To report an absence, call our attendance line at 503-263-7210 or email chs-attendance@canby.k12.or.us.
Please report an absence as soon as possible and no later than 48 hours after the absence.
Remember that attendance matters and students who attend class regularly are more likely to stay on track, graduate on time, learn deeply, and get the most from their high school experience.
