The Adaptability Team is working on common vocabulary and defining terms as they continue to think about the future for our students. They are also focused on defining skills needed for jobs that don't even exist yet. One highlight is the Personal Finance course at WCHS/WACC that was established at the request of the community after a needs assessment.

Steven Kuhn and Angela Hopper teach the single-semester course and anticipate significant growth next year as Personal Finance is now required for graduation for the Class of 2024 and beyond. Students learn about consumerism, credit scores, debt, savings, compound interest, investment, taxes, giving, and so much more. Students engage in independent work, group discussions, student presentations, and team activities. He is excited about the feedback received from students so far!

Steven Kuhn is looking forward to including guest speakers from the local banking and finance industry.Any industry leader interested in supporting this course or volunteering in the personal finance class, please contact Dr. David Robertson.

Mr. Kuhn thanks retired teacher David Clark for championing the call for ALL students to take Personal Finance.

The Inclusivity Team recently established Action Teams to achieve the goals of:

1. Designing & Creating Building Welcome Poles (pictured above);
2. Increasing Inclusivity Signage;
3. Developing a Rubric to Vet Curriculum Materials;
4. Developing an Inclusivity Council in each Building.

The Experience Team shared that WCHS/WACC will be highlighting opportunities on January 20, 2022, at the Annual Open House/Academic Showcase.

There will be interactive activities and exhibits in each department. The community is invited from 5 pm to 7:30 pm.

The Experience Team is also working on polling students, staff, and industry leaders to gather more information on what the current needs of the community are and what the schools can do to build strong partnerships with local businesses with the goal of bringing more stakeholders to the table to discuss how WCS can create more awareness of experience opportunities.
