The end of the term is fast approaching with a busy couple of weeks still to come!
Last week we saw a wonderful performance by the Junior and Senior Bands. They played a number of pieces and were very enjoyable to listen to. Well done to both bands and to Mr Christmas. We had some great results at the South Sydney Knockout, with our Senior team making it through to the grand final. I had many people comment to me, commending our students on their sportsmanship on the day. Well done to all of the boys and girls who took part. Congratulations also to Caprice and Kane, who competed at the Regional Cross Country Carnival last Friday. Caprice finished 7th in her age group, and Kane 36th in his.
Good luck to our Senior Dance group who will perform at the Seymour Centre on Monday night. The girls have been rehearsing with Ms Hunt and Mrs Bragg, and I am excited to see them perform their dance on stage. Taylise Hodder, who is a member of the NSW Public Schools Dance Ensemble, will also perform as part of the dance festival this week.
Don't forget the important events this week:
* Regional Dance Festival on Monday night
* Cybersafety Information Session on Wednesday @ 6pm
* Year 6 Cake Stall on Friday @ 3pm
Cybersafety Information Session - THIS WEDNESDAY
The majority of students now own an iPad, iPod or internet enabled device. Many students use the internet regularly, with some accessing social media sites. It is extremely important that we take measures to ensure the safety of our children when online. The Youth Liaison Officer from Mascot Police will be visiting the school on Wednesday 22nd June to deliver an information session on Cybersafety. She will inform parents of some of the dangers that children may be exposed to when using the internet, and will provide some tips and strategies for parents to implement to keep children safe. This session will be held at 6pm in the Library - you will be home in plenty of time to watch the Origin! It will be relevant for parents with children of all ages.
Election Day Cake Stall
Voting for the Federal Election will take place in the Banksmeadow Public School Hall on Saturday 2nd July. Please note that there will be no voting in the Preschool this year.
The P&C will be holding a cake stall on this day. They are asking for donations of cakes, slices, biscuits, etc. Please drop your donation to school on Friday 1st July, or bring to school on the Saturday morning. If you are able to volunteer at the stall to help sell cakes, please let Sarah Monahas or Ms Hoskins know.
