This month we will vote on the May 1, 2018 - April 30, 2019 NLAPW Tampa Branch Budget. This will give members an understanding of our Branch's finances. We need fund raiser ideas so we will be able to achieve our goals for the coming year.

We decided to go as a group in September to see Gainor Roberts Genesis Series Show at the Dunedin Fine Arts Center. The show opens September 7 and ends October 15. So far Carlene, Judy J, Peggy, Bonnie, Meletha, Sandy H and a maybe for Kat have indicated they would like to do this. Of course we would have lunch some place nice probably before the show. I'm looking forward to this September field trip. The Village Players in Valrico was also suggested as a field trip.

Program/workshop suggestions are: Fun with Poetry with Sandy Huff and Acrylic Pouring with Bonnie Phillips. Let's do it!

Suggestion from Virginia Halloway - She has a lot of of art supplies, books, paper, easels and the like she would like to purge. She suggests our Branch have a meeting with members bringing their unwanted creative items to swap or sell. Members would decide to donate all or a portion of money collected to the Branch and/or swap. An art league I belong to does this once a year. We get a ticket for each item brought and when it's our turn we select something from the items on the table. Good idea Virginia.

Founded as the 83rd Branch in 1938, the Tampa branch of Pen Women celebrated its 80th birthday on April 2nd!

Thank you to Susanne Hathaway for your inspiring visit and for sharing your extraordinary talent!

Susanne Hathaway, cellist and lover of music, brought her inspirational music and story to our March meeting. She describes herself as blessed, a garden dweller, foodie, amputee, and dreamer.

She is a professional musician in all its forms—performing, directing a contemporary ensemble at Nativity Catholic Church, singing, playing piano, improvising, arranging, and recording (she is featured on Mark and Barb Routen’s CD, Old Friends and Old Songs). She teaches private music lessons at Music Showcase in Brandon.

• Saturday, May 19 - Land O’ Lakes Library is hosting a Local Author Fair on from 10:00 am until 2:00. Cat Gardiner will be there with her book A Moment Forever
• Feb 10 - JUL 15 - Operation Finale: The Capture & Trial of Adolf Eichmann, Presented at Florida Holocaust Museum. It's the first exhibition in the USA to fully document the pursuit, capture, extradition, and trial of a Nazi war criminal. • April 15, 2:00 - The Big Three: Gershwin, Berlin, and Porter presented by The Rhythm Kings. Tarpon Arts at Tarpon Springs Performing Arts Center. he Rhythm Kings are a 12-piece band plus vocalists and perform under the direction of internationally-known arranger/composer Dan Fox. In this matinee performance, they will be celebrating the iconic works of “the big three”, famous composers Gershwin, Berlin, and Porter. Relax and enjoy as The Rhythm kings create a wonderful treasury of music from the golden era. $18.00 admission

• Every Wednesday-Saturday from Noon – 3:00 P.M. - The Tarpon Springs Historic Train Depot has been around for over 100 years. While it is no longer a train station, it now serves as a museum operated by the Tarpon Springs Area Historical Society, Inc. Stop in to see all of the historical exhibits and enjoy a guided tour or browse on your own. They also feature a fun History Hunt for the kids or those who are still kids at heart! No fee but donations are always appreciated!

Thanks to all of you for your fellowship and happy meetings. I will also use this platform to beg for someone to take over the treasurer’s job. It is not hard, and I can supply Quicken for you to keep records, or you can easily just use Excel, or you can even handwrite everything. I WILL HELP YOU!

I’m about to embark on a very huge project in my studio, and many of you know that I am scheduled to show my Genesis Painting series at Dunedin Fine Arts Center in September. I hate to think about the massive reframing job ahead to bring all those old paintings up to snuff so the backing is not looking like a 10-year-old framed it. Yikes. I also have quite a few more paintings to complete to give them the 40 paintings they asked for. So... anyone? Treasurer? Please? -Gainor
