We hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and break with their families! There are only 17 more school days until Christmas break, which means only 17 days left in the 2nd quarter! Please be sure to monitor Renweb (grades 3-8) for your child's grades.

We hope to have the Color Run on the early release day before Christmas break, December 19th. We will monitor the weather conditions and keep you updated.

Mrs. Stasey, our fourth grade teacher, will not be returning to Palmer Catholic Academy. We wish her all the best on her new endeavor. The PCA Pre-K through 5th grade Christmas program will take place on Tuesday, December 5th at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church at 5:00 PM. Please see more information below regarding arrival and dress code for the program.

PCA students in grades 2-8 will take part in the Advent Penitential at PCA on Wednesday, December 6th. This will be the first Reconciliation for our second graders! Please keep them in your prayers.

Please note our PCA Children's Mass next week will be on Friday, December 8th instead of Thursday, December 7th for the Immaculate Conception. That means Thursday will be a Friday schedule and Friday will be a Thursday schedule. There will be an HSA parent social after Mass on the 8th in the Concessions Area.

Picture retakes will take place on Friday, December 8th. Mandatory uniforms are required for individual pictures. 8th graders may dress up for their photo retake and then change back into their uniform.

As a reminder, negative posts on social media about PCA are prohibited as per our Parent/Student Handbook. If you have any concerns, please schedule a conference with your child's teacher to discuss it. If you still have concerns after the conference, please contact administration.

Students in grade PreK through grade 5 will perform in their annual Christmas program on December 5th, 2023. The performance will be held at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church at 5:00 p.m. Students should arrive by 4:45 p.m. wearing their red or green Christmas best. Boys should wear a nice pair of dress pants with a dress shirt or polo. Girls can wear a dress, skirt, or a nice pant suit. All shoes should have a closed toe (no sandals) for your child’s safety. All dress down day rules apply.

When you arrive, one parent should sign your child in with their teacher in the Cultural Center. Once your child is signed in, you can go and get a seat in the church for the performance. Please do not arrive earlier than 4:30 p.m.; the doors to the Cultural Center will not be open earlier than that.

Please note: All PreK students will meet in the church – not the Cultural Center.

Teacher Appreciation donations are still being accepted for the upcoming Christmas teacher luncheon! Please send in your cash or check donation to the front office clearly labeled to receive 1 service point for every $50 in donations (*max 6 points).

PCA will once again be participating in City Rescue Mission’s Shoeboxes of Love to help brighten the holiday for the homeless. Each class is assigned an item to bring in to contribute to the boxes. Students who contribute an item will be part of a holiday dress down day (date and theme to be announced). Please see below for a list of requested items. All donations need to be brought to school by December 8th. (Please note all hygiene items should be travel size to fit in the boxes with other items.) Thank you in advance for participating!

All forms are located on the website under Parents>Forms/Info. It is mandatory that any student needing to receive medications during school hours have a Medical Authorization Form filled out including the physician’s signature. This applies to both prescribed and over-the-counter medications. The medicines must only be received in the original container, which is clearly labeled with the child’s name and the medication name, dose and frequency. All medicines are kept in the school clinic. Any medication received without the original container, proper labeling or completed forms will be the responsibility of the parent to administer in school. Any medicine or medical equipment necessary to leave on school property is the sole responsibility of the parent. Students are permitted to carry and self-administer inhalers once the Parental Authorization for Student to Self-Medicate via Prescription Inhaler form is received. Also available is the Release and Waiver of Liability Regarding Children with Severe Medical Conditions form for Epinephrine and other qualifying medical conditions. Students are never permitted to carry any type of medication at school other than inhalers (ex: medicinal creams, cough drops, etc.). At school year-end, medicines not picked up by parents will be discarded.

PCA uses a Virtues in Practice Program. Each month we focus on a specific virtue and different grade levels learn about a saint who exemplifies that virtue. At the end of month, there will be a family assignment to complete about the virtue.

December's virtue of the month is PATIENCE. Patience is waiting or enduring without complaint.
