This has been an action packed week here in Frederick County. We are so fortunate that all of our scholars and families are safe and can now prepare for a loving weekend together. I have reached out to the Silver Knights Chess Club and they are very excited to start a partnership with our school. This partnership will come at a cost to parents, but if you are interested, please see the attached flyer for sign up details. Please note that there are only 15 initial slots for this club so if you are interested, please act fast.

We have also gauged interest in a dance club, and are happy to inform parents that sign up information will go home next week to interested parties. There will be a virtual parent meeting scheduled before the start of the club. This is a free activity for families.

Finally, I am still working on details for the band. Information is forthcoming, but if you are interested in the band, please sign the attached interest survey.

Teachers are working on plans for synchronous support for students who are at home for quarantine. Different types of tutoring options will be shared by your child's teacher when they are impacted. We will still use Schoology as a main form of sharing work however, there will be opportunities for tutoring as well as small group sessions when needed.

We will again be offering all scholars the opportunity to eat breakfast in the classroom once they arrive. This is free for all students. Lunch will also be available for all scholars. They will order in the morning with their homeroom teacher and can order from the hot entrée choice, a wow-butter sandwich or a salad.

Even though all, items are available for all scholars, we do still need the free and reduced meal benefit application if you are eligible. The application and more information can be found on the food and nutrition services webpage.

Don’t do a group text! Text each contact individually and add their name and personalize your message to them.

We are continuing to work on the timing of carline. Please complete the form HERE to obtain an HOV number if you have 3 or more scholars. We are hoping to alleviate the

iReady diagnostics have begun. All students in grades k-8 will be given both the reading and math diagnostic. This will assist teachers in determining instruction as well as identify strengths and areas in need of improvement. Teachers will be sharing results with families.

Below are several policies we are sharing with families.

Policy 116 : Title IX Sexual Harassment

Regulation 400-48 Bullying-Harassment-Intimidation, Complaint Process for Students

Regulation 500-32: Replacement of Lost or Damaged Instructional Materials

It is unlawful for students to possess or use any weapon on school property. Students who have or use a weapon on school property will be suspended from school, and the police will be notified of the incident. A weapon is any object designed to harm another physically or an object which is used in a way that can physically harm another. This school is committed to providing each of you with a safe environment, and we will do all we can to carry out that responsibility including, if necessary, conducting searches of student lockers.

Our scholars have been doing a great job wearing their masks and following other safety procedures such as handwashing. Please consider sending an extra mask with your scholar. We do have disposable masks we give when one needs replaced, but sometimes scholars prefer their own unique ones.

All staff and students will be required to wear face coverings in our school buildings when students are present.

Parents/guardians who seek an exception/accommodation for a student age 2 or older should complete the Student Face-Covering/Accommodations Form and submit it to their school administrator. Students with existing mask accommodations will be honored.

Issues of non-compliance will be handled per FCPS Regulation 400-8 Student Discipline. The discipline regulation provides for progressive discipline for incidents of disruptive or willfully disobedient behavior.

As conditions change, FCPS will update their Expectations for Face Coverings in School Buildings to address continuing health and safety concerns.

Our K-4 Scholars will have back to school night on Sept 8th from 6-8.

Our 5-8 Scholars will have back to school night on Sept 9th from 6-8.

We are currently working on clubs for the fall. We are working on getting several up and running. More information will be sent out shortly. We have volunteers who are planning on starting dance and chess clubs.

We are excited to announce that Frederick Classical Charter School will continue to engage in bi-weekly professional development for staff members to begin on September 3, 2021. Families enrolled in both AM & PM care in Club House Kids will get priority placement for early release days.
