BES Wildcats ROAR
Week of Monday, October 23 through Friday, October 27
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Thank you for exploring our BES newsletter! I want to begin by sharing a little bit about myself with you all. I am a native of Blacksburg and attended BES as a student! I am married to Wes and we have two children, Riley and Lily. As a family we stay busy with both kids in band and one in competitive dance. We have a small farm with pigs, chickens, rabbits, dogs, and cats. I love spending time outdoors in my garden or with our animals. I have been in education for 20 years, with the past 6 of those spent working as an AP at BD Lee Elementary School. I am excited to be able to transition into the role of Principal here at Blacksburg Elementary School! I look forward to getting to know each student and their families. I am thrilled to work with you all this year and look forward to a wonderful school year!
Thank you to all who participated in parent conferences! If you couldn't attend, please reach out to your child's teacher to schedule a time to chat about your student's progress.

Safety Notes:
Any visitor to our building will pass through metal detection. We encourage you to leave personal items in your vehicles. When you enter our front door, there is a table and basket to the right. Anything that you are bringing in should be placed in that basket. Please clear metal detection and then ring the new buzzer that will allow you into the office area. The buzzer on the office door is a new safety feature. We appreciate your patience and cooperation with these safety measures.
We are glad to welcome our parents and families to eat lunch with their own child. Visitors should not pull other students to eat with their child. If you are coming for lunch, please make sure that you have your ID to check in and get a badge. Visitors should report to the sunroom to eat with their child. Once lunch is over, the student should return to their class for dismissal from lunch, and the parent/visitor should return to the office for check out. Visitors should not travel down the hallways or other places in the building. Thank you in advance for your help with this safety matter!
