Field Day Fun!
Bridlemile News
Time flies when you're having fun, which explains why I’m surprised this is the last Friday Flyer for 2022-23. Beagles, we’ve enjoyed such a wonderful return to Bridlemile this year!
This year has had it all and through it all, we worked together and got through it together. I hope it’s a long time (a.k.a. never again) before I have to use the words ‘gas supply line’ in a message to families. When I look back at this year, I will remember our community reuniting at STEAM night. Seeing our students, staff and families together and celebrating their classroom successes will be one of many of this year’s highlights for me.
We did it! To our remarkable students, you have shown time and again that you are capable of achieving great things. But it’s not just the academic achievements that I see, but the countless acts of kindness and compassion you show one another. Our success is in the collective support and encouragement we offer one another every day. Fifth graders, you have been fantastic role models! I am excited to hear about your continued success as you move on to middle school. Please come back and visit us!
It is never easy saying good-bye. I’d like to recognize the following staff, who will be moving on from Bridlemile after this school year. We wish them all the best!
Ann Gooselaw-Kindergarten Teacher
Becca Barlow-Music Teacher
Jen Guzman-Media Specialist Assistant
Kathryn Dudley-Psychologist
Esther Doyle-School Health Assistant
For anyone leaving Bridlemile this year, whether it is to explore new neighborhoods, opportunities, or embark on new family adventures, thank you for joining us on this journey.
You will always be a part of our story, and Bridlemile will always be a part of your story.
Remember, once a beagle, always a beagle!
Thank you for making my first year at Bridlemile so incredibly memorable. I hope that you enjoy a restful and rejuvenating summer, and I look forward to welcoming you back in the fall.
Sincerely,
Katherine
Looking Ahead...Click here for the 2023-2024 Classroom School Supply List
We wanted to share with you some ways we are looking to streamline our classroom supplies process. We have taken some initial steps to reduce cost and waste:
Grade level teams have been intentional about what supplies to ask for (e.g. we only ask for the brand if that’s a must-have).
We have looked at needs across grade levels and have also reduced the number of supplies based on what we already have.
Please do not label supplies with student names. Most supplies will be used communally.
We plan to have supplies drop off on the days before school starts to avoid the first day of school supplies jam.
In Fall 2023, we will survey families regarding the classroom supply process and what changes we wish to make going forward. One option we are considering is moving to having families pay for supplies via SchoolPay.
Summer Learning Options from PPS - iReady Math
As the year winds to a close, parents may have questions about what resources students can access at home for summer learning. Students can work on MyPath during the summer. It will be available until August 12, 2023. Just 2 lessons per week (which is between 30 and 45 minutes) will help students demonstrate great gains in mathematics proficiency. Here is a quick tutorial for support.
Summer Reading Program at Multnomah County Library-June 16 - August 31, 2023
Gameboards have been distributed to students via backpacks this week!
Find Your Voice at Multnomah County Library!
Our voices have power. We use our voices to share stories, express ourselves, and spark change. Our voices include not only the sounds we make, but the words we write, the art we create, the movements we perform and the actions we take each day to impact our world.
Read for fun and prizes this summer. Babies, kids and teens can play the Summer Reading game by starting a daily reading habit. In addition, the library will have lots of fun interactive performances, storytelling, and arts and crafts for kids and families. It all kicks off June 16!
Kids of all ages can play online or on paper.
