Nixon ElementaryWeekly UpdateOctober 23, 2023

Monday Morning Updtaes!

  • Expectation Celebration #2: This week is our 2nd Expectation Celebration, and we are so excited! Learners who have had 0 office referrals since September 15 will get to participate in the event outdoors at Nixon on Wednesday, October 25. We will have slides, a bounce house, and a whole lot of fun! In case of rain, we'll bring the fun inside; either way we'll have a blast!

  • Trick-or-Treating at Nixon: It's almost time for our annual Trick-or-Treat event at Nixon. Mark your calendar for Monday, October 30 from 5:15-6:15 for some Trick-or-Treat fun on the Nixon playground. Wear your costumes & bring your friends for some fun hosted by our Nixon PTA!

  • Taking Donations (of time and candy): If you'd like to help out with our annual Trick or Treat event on the Nixon playground, please take a minute to sign up using the link below. We're looking for both candy donations (due to the office by Friday, Oct 27), as well as people to pass out candy at the event. We hope you'll sign up to support our Nixon PTA!

  • Nixon Clothing Drive: It's not too late! If you are still interested in donating to our clothing drive, we are looking for new or gently used items to send home at the end of October. Please see the flyer below for more information.

  • Nixon Costume Parade: This year we will host our annual Nixon Costume Parade on Tuesday, October 31 starting at 2:30pm. This event is open to families who would like to come watch the parade and take pictures of their children. Please send your child with their costume on this day in a separate bag. We will help them get into costumes that afternoon and then start the parade at 2:30 on the blacktop. After the parade, you are welcome to take your child home for the day--our fall parties will be completed by then! No RSVP needed--just come on over the Nixon!

Costume Expectations: No Masks, No Makeup, No Weapons, & School Appropriate

Don't have a costume? No worries! We have extras at the school. Have costumes you'd like to donate to Nixon that don't fit anymore? We'd love to add them to our costume collection to lend out to learners here at school each year.

It's a great day to be a Bobcat!

Pick A Better Snack

Pick A Better Snack is a program that our K-2 learners at Nixon participate in each month. The goal of the program is to teach children about healthy eating, have them try new foods, and to get them excited about those healthy foods. Check out this monthly newsletter from our partners at Pick a Better Snack.

Expectation Celebration # 2 is October 25!

Our next expectation celebration is coming up in a few weeks, and this experience has our learners jumping for joy!

All learners with 0 office referrals between September 15 and October 25, will be able to participate in our Nixon Bounce and Slide fun on October 25th. We'll be bringing in inflatables for learners to play on as a way to celebrate their outstanding Bobcat behavior.

We look forward to live streaming that event on October 25, as well as celebrating all of the learners who were able to not receive any major office referrals that month.
