This week is week three of the 4th Six Weeks. Accordingly, students will be CFA testing throughout the week. The schedule for CFA testing may be found below in our Upcoming Events. Valentine's Day is right around the corner. As a safety precaution, Rio Hondo Middle School will not be accepting/allowing deliveries of any kind for staff or students, so we ask that everyone plan accordingly.

Mr. Alvarez's 8th Grade RLA Class
Mr. Alvarez's 8th grade students read various sections of a passage about Ezra Frech entitled "Born to Run" . Each group was assigned a subsection of the passage. Each group's task was to evaluate details and read to determine key ideas. Each group presented details of their assigned subsection to their peers.
RHMS Hosts "Spring Super Talk"
Rio Hondo Middle School had the privilege of hosting the Spring "Super Talk" on Friday, January 26, 2024. RHISD Superintendent of Schools, Raul J. Trevino, was interviewed by the Rio Hondo MIddle School Student Council President, Cambrye Perea. Stay tuned for the "Super Talk" video coming soon!
Mr. Pezeshki's Science Lab
Mr. Pezeshki's 6th Grade Science students had the opportunity to rotate to various stations within his Science Lab to observe thermal energy transfer. The various stations demonstrated radiation, convection and conduction!
Middle School Math Matters
Additionally, Rio Hondo Middle School was selected by the University of Texas Charles A. Dana Center to videotape research based instructional math practices being implemented with our RHMS students. Participants included 5th, 6th, and 7th grade students with their teachers, Mrs. Criselda Martinez, Mrs. Elida Ruiz, and Ms. Edna Sandoval, respectively. Below are numerous snapshots of Rio Hondo Middle School students as they are being videotaped in action. These videos will be utilized in the future to provide professional development to math teachers state-wide. Special thanks to Margarita (Amy) Gutierrez, Region One Math Specialist, for her unwavering support to our RHMS teachers and students.

Principal's Coffee Chat
RHMS Principal, Ramiro Moreno, in collaboration with Ms. Eva Flores, RHMS Dean of Instruction, and Mrs. Cindy Garcia, Communities In School Coordinator, hosted a Spring Coffee Chat at Rio Hondo Middle School on Wednesday, January 31, 2024. Participants listened actively, asked great questions, and provided great suggestions for improvement.
