Board Meeting Summary 1/8/2024
- Becky Hansen, Executive Director of Business Services and Sustainability, presented the 5-year budget forecast for the District. The budget forecast allows the District to develop a multi-year financial plan. It compares and analyzes different scenarios, and aids in budget preparation and stakeholder reporting. Hansen indicated that the biggest factor affecting the District budget is declining enrollment. Data shows that the District can expect to decrease by 100 students per year over the next five years. Even with an increase in revenue limit and additional student aid, the result would still be an overall decrease in revenue. Based on the declining enrollment projections, a plan to decrease expenses will be put together, and an operational referendum may be in the District's future. The Kimberly Area School District remains one of the lowest- spending districts in the state while continuing to be one of the highest-achieving. For additional information, view the budget forecast presentation on Boarddocs.
- Hansen also presented and the Board approved the budget calendar for the 2024-25 school year. The calendar outlines the budget process and directs the work of the District toward the development of the final 2024-25 budget, which will be presented to the Board for approval in October.
- Jackie DePeau requested approval for 18 early graduation requests. The Board approved the requests for Tanner Brinkman, Grace Clark, Cody Hagglund, Justin Karp, Jasmine Kontaxis, Mae McCarty, Serenity Nava, Kade Olson, Aubrey Puls, Emma Regal, Lindsey Rentmeester, Jose Saldivar, Kylie Schmitt, Victoria Gardner Sheets, Tobias Teske, Adrian Traska, Aspen Tucker, and Abigail Wolfe. Students wishing to graduate early must complete an application process, which includes meeting with counselors, developing a formal post-secondary plan, administrative review and Board approval.
- The Board approved early retirement for Michelle Everson, Third Grade Teacher at Woodland Elementary School, effective June 6, 2023.
- The Board approved the second reading of policy 5330 - Administration of Medication/Emergency Care.
- Contracts were approved for Joseph Tomaszewski, Special Education Teacher at Kimberly High School, and Gabby Pantzlaff, Special Education Teacher at Westside Elementary, both effective January 22, 2024. The retirement request for Sue Curtis, Health Teacher at Mapleview and Woodland Intermediate, was also approved, effective June 6, 2024.

Kimberly High School Key Club Collects Holiday Donations
For over 15 years, the Kimberly High School Key Club has partnered with the Kiwanis Club of Darboy for the Community Christmas Party. The event strives to relieve some of the added holiday stress for local families. Besides providing an array of gifts, families are also provided paper products and non-perishable food items. This year the donations reached 60 children from 17 families. In addition to each child receiving gifts they wished for, each family received a blanket, a box of food and some gift cards. All of this is possible thanks to the generosity of the amazing staff and students of KHS and our awesome community members.

The Delicious Path to College Credits at KASD
The Nutrition and Trends class at Kimberly High School (KHS) recently stirred up some sweet excitement with their cookie invention contest! In this dynamic culinary experience, students had the opportunity to showcase their creativity and culinary skills.
What makes this experience even sweeter is the fact that it's a dual credit course, offering students a chance to earn college credit towards the Culinary Arts program at Fox Valley Technical College (FVTC). The credits and grades earned will apply to both high school and college graduation.
Divided into groups, each team embarked on the delightful challenge of inventing their very own cookie from scratch. Armed with knowledge about the science of baking and the functions of ingredients, these budding chefs got to work. Teams competed head-to-head, putting their unique cookie creations to the test. Teachers joined in as judges at the end of the class, assessing taste, presentation, and overall innovation.
The competition not only fosters creativity but also provides a glimpse into the fast-paced world of culinary arts. It's a perfect example of how KASD encourages hands-on learning and student engagement while maintaining a deliciously educational experience! Be sure to check out our website for a full photo gallery showcasing the innovative and tasty cookie creations from this exciting contest at Kimberly High School.
