Eagle Crest Family Newsletter
November 2nd, 2023
PRINCIPAL'S UPDATE
Dear Eagle Crest Families,
What a fun and eventful week it has been! We were delighted to witness a fantastic turnout for our annual Halloween parade, where numerous families joined us. The preservation of cherished school traditions like this (while continuing our focus on strong academics) provides an opportunity for both students and teachers to exercise their creativity and foster enduring connections with our school community.
In addition to the Halloween festivities, we are thrilled to announce that we have successfully achieved our fundraising goal for the PTO Laps for Leadership event, raising a remarkable $23,500! This accomplishment calls for a celebration, and we will be hosting a tie-dye party using the white t-shirts we distributed at the beginning of the school year. Please ensure that your child brings their t-shirt to their classroom this week, as the tie-dye process requires a few days, and our preparation starts next Monday!
This week also brought with it our first taste of chilly weather. We kindly request that you equip your children with the necessary layers, including hats, gloves, boots, and warm jackets. Our commitment to outdoor activities in all seasons means we want our students to be comfortable and prepared for the elements. It's worth noting that young children may occasionally misplace their belongings đ, so please feel free to drop by and check our Lost and Found cart. We will also make an effort to display it during arrival and dismissal times to assist in reuniting lost items with their owners.
Wishing you and your families a fantastic weekend!
Warmly,
Amanda

DEAN OF STUDENTS' UPDATE
Hello Eagle Crest Families!
Besides this newsletter, we also rely on Infinite Campus to communicate with families. This includes important messages about weather and âIndoor Arrivalâ, event reminders, or other school-wide announcements. You can check and manage your settings in the Infinite Campus Parent Portal app. These are available in both the iPhone and Google Play stores.
Accessing Your Account:
Accounts are typically associated with your email address. You can always try the "Reset Password" button or contact Dinah Sherwood (sherwood_dinah@svvsd.org) in our front office to check your account information and reset your password.
Changing Contact Preferences:
Once you have access to your account, you will navigate to "Settings" and "Contact Preferences." In that section, you will have the opportunity to confirm the accuracy of your phone and email contacts, as well as your "Message Preferences". We suggest turning on Voice and SMS. See photo below.
What types of messages are sent?:
Emergency
Used for immediate communication from the district â weather related school closures, school safety procedures related to the Standard Response Protocol (SRP).
General Notification
Sent from school or district for general announcements that have no time constraint â parent teacher conference reminder, school event, Superintendent Update, etc.
Priority Notification
Sent by the school or district for time sensitive information that needs to go out in the next 24 hours â event cancellations.
Teacher
Sent by teachers â missing assignment, failing grades and general classroom information.
If you would like more detailed step-by-step directions or more information, please visit our district information page for Messenger.
Feel free to reach out to us if you need support using the Parent Portal app. This app will become an essential tool as your child moves into middle and high school. Next week, I will share more information about how to access your child's first trimester report card through the Parent Portal app.
