E-Learning Day: November 3rd
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
**In person learners grades 5--8 can get a bag of food as they exit the building Monday afternoon (Nov. 2)! Food tables are set up near the bus doors and the main entrance in the hallways.**On Tuesday, November 3rd, Warren Township will have a planned eLearning Day for our students across the district. On this day, your student will complete extended learning activities at home, designed by their teachers.
What is eLearning? How does it differ from Virtual Learning?
eLearning is defined as extended learning activities. Extended learning refers to activities that continue the instruction happening in the classroom; it is not the introduction of new concepts. This work is provided by teachers and it is aligned with district curriculum maps. eLearning differs from Virtual Learning in that students will not participate in direct instruction or small group instruction on Zoom on this day.
In preparation for this eLearning Day, I wanted to share information with families in advance. Depending on your grade level and learning model, there is unique information to be aware of for Tuesday, November 3rd.
If your student is:
IN-PERSON, 5th-8th grade, your student will receive their work from their teachers on Canvas for November 3rd.
VIRTUAL Kindergarten through 12th grade, your student will receive their work from their teachers on Canvas.
Activities assigned on Tuesday, November 3rd, will be due by Tuesday, November 10th. Submission of work will be used to verify your student’s attendance as PRESENT for November 3rd.
All work for the eLearning day will be uploaded to CANVAS by 8:55 AM on November 3rd. If your student needs support from their teacher on their assignments, eLearning support hours will be available from 9:00 PM - 12:00 PM. An email will be sent from your classroom teacher/team to parents sharing their phone number, email and other methods of communication available on November 3rd during eLearning support hours. *Moorhead Community Resource Center will be open from 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM to support your device needs. The technology help desk is located on the north side of the building, door 11, near the playground.
eLearning Days may be used in the event of school closures due to inclement weather. This planned day allows us to ensure that we are employing practices that support the continuation of our students’ learning while providing support.
Creston looks forward to supporting our families with our first eLearning Day of the 2020-2021 school year. Please reach out with any questions.

Queridos padres y tutores,

Minority Engineering Program of Indianapolis (MEPI): Accepting Student Applications!
MEPI’s concentrated programs provide a good foundation for minority students who plan to enter the field of Engineering or Information Technology.
We are currently accepting new applications for the 2020-2021 program year. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we will offer virtual programming this year. Our facilitators have been working diligently to create virtual programming that will continue to provide a hands-on experience led by facilitators. Our sessions will take place via a video conference with facilitators 10am-12noon on the second Saturday of each month from December to May. There will also be a mandatory virtual parent meeting in November and student recognition event in June.
We are accepting applications for students in grades 6-12. The application will require a recent transcript/report card, a paragraph on why your student is interested in MEPI and a recent headshot (photo). There is also a $35 program fee. Applications will be processed on a first come, first served basis so you are encouraged to submit an application as soon as possible. We encourage you to submit an application no later than Nov 5th. Once classes fill up we will no longer be able to accept any students due to classroom capacity.
New student applications are available here on our website. If you have any questions, please reach out to:
