Boys and Girls Cross Country- DCIAA
We are excited that DCPS has approved Hyde-Addison to have Girls and Boys Cross Country teams this year for 4th and 5th graders.
Please sign your child up below before August 30 at 3:00pm to participate. All required forms must be completed by August 30 and emailed to hyde.addison@k12.dc.gov to be eligible to participate. The coaches (Ms. Holmes and Ms. Shields) will be in touch with additional information and to confirm that all requirements have been met. Practices will be Tuesdays and Thursdays afternoons from dismissal until approximately 4:30pm. Students who are attending aftercare with Champions will be taken there at the end of practice. Please note that much of practice will take place off of Hyde-Addison's campus and permission to run off campus will be a requirement for participation, due to the nature of the sport. More specific information will be provided. There is no cost to families.
To be eligible, DCIAA requires that your child:
- Has all participation forms completed
- Is up-to-date on all required immunizations
- Is currently in grade 4 or 5

Boys Basketball- DCIAA
Basketball is a winter sport, but because it is new to Hyde-Addison we would love to have students and families indicate interest, in advance. Please indicate your interest October 2 at 3:00pm to participate. All required forms must be completed by October 2 and emailed to hyde.addison@k12.dc.gov to be eligible to participate. The coach will be in touch later this fall with those who indicate interest to share logistics like practice dates and times. There is no cost to families.

Running- Girls on the Run
Girls on the Run has partnered with Hyde-Addison for years, and we have even been featured on CBS news! Girls on the Run (GOTR) is a 10-week positive youth development program for girls in grades 3-5. Their focus is on having fun, making friends, increasing their physical activity, and learning important lessons to last a lifetime. At the end of the sessions, there is a celebratory 5K event to end the season which is also open to friends and family!
The team are slated to meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:00am-school arrival. The Girls on the Run - DC Fall 2023 season starts the week of September 7th and concludes with a celebratory 5K.
The Girls on the Run-DC Program Fee is $250. They offer adjusted program fees based on a sliding scale during registration. The Program Fee Includes:
- Twenty (20) lessons conducted by certified Girls on the Run Coaches
- Lesson materials
- One (1) water bottle
- One (1) official Girls on the Run t-shirt
- One (1) entry for the girl to participate in the Girls on the Run-DC 5K (please note that parents/caregivers must register separately to run the 5K)
- One (1) 5K finisher's medal
Drama- Keegan Theatre
Keegan PLAY-RAH-KA is excited to offer After School Theatre Enrichment classes to Hyde-Addison Elementary students in Kindergarten-5th grade. Students will work as an ensemble to explore the world around them and focus on the use of their voices, bodies, and imaginations in a series of games and exercises to learn the art of Theatrical Storytelling! Classes will occur weekly throughout the fall semester on Tuesdays (2nd & 3rd grade), Wednesdays (4th & 5th grade), and Thursdays (K & 1st grade) from 3:30-5 PM. The cost of this enrichment will be $30 per class, however scholarships or sliding scales may be available. Please email playrahka@keegantheatre.com to discuss financial options.

Easy Spanish 123
We are excited to offer EasySpanish123 to Hyde-Addison K-5 graders.
This is an exciting program of Spanish immersion with experienced professionals whose mother-tongue is Spanish. Exciting activities, song, vocabulary, and conversation are directed either to children with no prior exposure to Spanish, or to students wishing to build up their conversational skills. The reviews are uniformly excellent, and we are lucky to have them! Classes will be from 3:30 To 5:00 pm and students will attend twice a week on both Mondays and Wednesdays. The cost of this enrichment will be $40/session with semester-long contracts (semesters have 28 sessions); however, scholarships may be available. Lego Club with AristoCrafts
We are excited to offer our Lego Club to Hyde-Addison K-2nd graders, slated to begin September 12. Classes will be held on Tuesdays from 3.30 to 4.30pm. Tippi Toes Dance
We are super excited to offer Tippi Toes Dance to Hyde-Addison students (Pre-K through 5th Grade)! Tippi Toes Dance cheerfully provides children with a fun, positive, and nurturing environment so that they are able to experience the joys of dance. Classes are specifically designed to develop dance skills while boosting self-esteem. We use our original music and choreography to connect with students and our incredible Tippi Toes Teachers help students grow in their skills each week. Classes will be on Monday and Friday afternoons. The cost of this enrichment will be $23 per student / per class; however, scholarships or sliding scales may be available. Soccer Shots
PreK3 &4 Students
Soccer Shots Classic utilizes creative and imaginative games to focus on basic soccer skills like dribbling, passing and shooting. We also highlight a positive character trait each session such as respect, teamwork and appreciation. The cost of this enrichment is $140 for 8 classes! Classes are slated to begin September 22 and will be on Fridays, after dismissal. There is limited space in this enrichment and there will be two-time frames for this age group. The school has the right to put you in either time frame, either 3:30-4:00 -or- 4:10-4:40. Soccer Shots Premier focuses on individual skill, fitness and sportsmanship, providing an opportunity for children to be challenged through fun games and team interaction. There is limited space in this enrichment and there is one time frame for this age group from 4:50-5:35pm. Classes are slated to begin September 22.
