Half Day School

Happy Summer from Half Day Staff!
We loved our 2022-2023 school year! We are so proud of what the students learned and accomplished. We wish all of our Half Day students, staff, and families a safe summer filled with rest, relaxation, and FUN! ✨💙💛💙✨
Notice and Wonder Activities
As we near the end of another exciting school year, our teachers have taken advantage of the beautiful weather by incorporating outdoor activities into their lesson plans. Encouraging students to observe and appreciate the wonders of nature, these outdoor excursions have sparked curiosity and fostered a deeper understanding of the world around us.
Jaime Gagamov, a REACH teacher at Half Day School, spoke enthusiastically about the benefits of outdoor learning. "It's a great opportunity for students to be curious as they look at the ever-changing nature outside," Mrs. Gagamov shared.
Armed with magnifying glasses and binoculars, students have been able to take a closer look at their surroundings, prompting them to notice and wonder about the intriguing phenomena they encounter. "The real power comes as the students observe the changes that occur throughout the seasons," she added. Read more about this activity on the Half Day website. For pictures of the activity, please visit the school's Google Doc Folder.
There were 190 fourth-graders who participated in the Outdoor Education experience at Camp MacLean in Wisconsin last week. Students participated in a variety of educational experiences that wove team building into the mix. Enjoy pictures of the event.

Volunteers Needed on Friday, June 2
Can you believe we've reached the last week of school?!!
The PTO is closing down our activities for the school year but we have one final volunteer opportunity...We need to organize the indoor recess bins.
The PTO provides a bin of games and activities to each classroom at HD School to be used for indoor recess days. Once per year, we go through these bins to sort, organize, replenish, etc. We need volunteers to help us with this process so the bins can be ready for next school year. And we would be happy if your HD student wanted to join you and help!
Volunteers are needed this Friday, June 2, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. If you can help us, please sign up here.
Thank You Half Day Families!
D103 PTO would like to thank all who donated their time and energy this year! Our Half Day events were successful because of the hundreds of hours dedicated to planning and executing these activities.
Looking forward to the 2023-2024 school year, the PTO is looking for helpers! Please take a look at the list of volunteer opportunities that we need to fill. We're happy to discuss any of these opportunities in more detail. Just reach out!
