Principals Message
Excellent E.O. GREEN educating partners,
Thank you for coming to campus to support the Spring Event. We hope you enjoyed watching the performances, visiting classrooms, and observing the art and history galleries. We look forward to next school year to be able to host many more in-person activities and programs.
Celebrate our wonderful teachers! National Teacher Appreciation Week is May 2-6. Send an email to thank your child’s teacher. We thank and appreciate our stellar teachers for their professionalism and dedication to teaching every child. This month we also celebrate our classified employees. Reach out to thank them for their ongoing support. Thank you.
Please help us ensure your student's backpack is organized, clean, and only carries school supplies and tools required for school.
We appreciate your conversations with your student about cellular phones. Keeping the phone in silence or powered down and inside the backpack is essential. We want students to avoid being distracted in the classroom. They come to school to focus on learning and continue thriving in their academic achievements. Unfortunately, the phone is becoming a distraction for some students. Thank you for supporting the learning goals of your student.
Thank you to Ms. Myers and the staff for a magnificent video to showcase what's happening on our campus. Did you have an opportunity to watch the video during the board meeting last Monday? Well, here is the link to it: https://youtu.be/x2x7CixZDF4
The Trimester 3 Progress Report will be given to all students on Friday, May 6. Please take time to review their accomplishments and celebrate! Friendly reminder that you have access to the grade marks in Student and Parent Connect.
All students will be completing the math screener, easyCBM, on May 2. Encourage your student to do their best!
This is the time to take care of our mental well-being. “According to the Human Services Secretary, Kathleen Sebelius, “Mental health is essential for a person's overall health. Prevention works, treatment is effective, and people can recover from mental disorders and live full and productive lives.” The Comprehensive Health and Prevention Programs Department at VCOE has put together a list of resources, ideas, and activities to encourage you, your students, staff, and families to use for mental health preventative care and more.” Please access the resources provided by VCOE.org below.

Summer Opportunities at the Library
There’s so much to see, so much to do at the library! It is one of the best places to take kids, especially during the summer months when children are out of school. The library is a place to learn, read, and have fun…a place the entire family can enjoy. The amount of time children spend reading outside of school is linked to improvements in reading achievement. Many studies show that access to books and other reading materials is directly related to higher reading achievement.
Themed events include bi-weekly STEAM Kits and challenges, participation in the library’s online reading and activity log (register at vencolibrary.beanstack.org), themed Storytimes, and a closing party hosted by Kona Ice. This year Ventura County Library is giving away 13 Nintendo Switch Grand Prizes as well as smaller STEAM prizes, including musical instruments, throughout the summer. In addition, once a child has logged 500 minutes, they may visit their local branch to choose a free new book to add to their home libraries.
Registration continues through August 14, 2022. To learn more about the summer reading adventure at the library, please check out the library’s website at vencolibrary.org.
