After School Enrichment Program
Our curriculum office is proud to announced that the Y will begin their after school enrichment program on October 16. Due to an increase in state aid funding that was received, cost of the program is being covered this year by the district. The application period is now closed for this worthwhile event. Students who were enrolled will have the choice of participating in two enrichment activities; STEAM based tasks, coding, or athletic games. A snack will also be available. The enrichment program was open to students in grades 2-6 and will operate from 3:00-5:00 pm. The district is very excited to offer this opportunity to our students, as “Enrichment For All” is one of our mottos.
Roll Over Winn Dixie
Books expose children to a world of possibilities. It teaches them new words and ways to use language. It also helps them discover information about the world, which makes it easier for them to learn about new subjects, events and how to deal with situations. Nothing helps a child understand literature more than actually have them live it.
The 4th grade is reading Because of Winn Dixie by Kate DiCamillo. The teachers decided to celebrate this great novel by encouraging students to recreate settings from the story in each fourth class and take turns visiting each class while discussing the book. The settings are Gloria Dump's Backyard, Sweetie Pie Thomas’ 6th Birthday Party and Herman W. Blocks Memorial Library.
Big shout out to Ms. Brennan, Mrs. McCain and Mr. Winston for designing this interactive activity for the students.
