MAP TESTING

Welcome Parents and Students and thank you for reading our weekly newsletter. On Monday, October 5th and Tuesday, October 6th. Rancho Viejo students will be taking the MAPS English and Math test with their 2nd and 3rd period teachers. Please make sure your child logs on to their google classroom meet and tries their best on each test for BOTH days. Please see more information about the schedule and importance of this test below.

Monday, October 5th English Language Arts Test Schedule

10/05/20 (9:55 am- 12:20 pm) Testing Schedule:

Period 2 Testing

Students will be testing with their 2nd period teacher. The test should be completed before the end of 4th period (12:20).

Period 3 & 4

Will not be taught today. Students are testing with their 2nd period teacher.

Period 5

Asynchronous Assignment like normal

Period 6

Synchronous Assignment like normal

Period 7

Tuesday, October 6th Math Test Schedule

10/06/20 (10:45 am- 1:10 pm) Testing Schedule:

Period 2

Period 3 Testing

Students will be testing with their 3rd period teacher. The test should be completed before the end of 5th period (1:10).

Period 4 & 5

Will not be taught today. Students are testing with their 3rd period teacher.

Why are we testing during distance learning?

The information from this test provides your child and their teachers with valid evidence to your child's individual learning growth and path. The results of the MAP test will answer the following important questions for your child:

Where am I going?

Where am I now?

How can I get to where I want to be?

Why is it important for my student to complete this test on their own?

The MAP (English and Math) test helps students know what they are ready to learn next. It's OK and expected not to know all the answers. Some questions will be easy, and others more difficult. It is important that students DO NOT receive any help from any one at home on this test because the test scores will be invalid and will not truly represent what your child knows and what they are ready to learn next.

Why is it important for my student to do their best on this test?

This test will be given at least 2 to 3 times within this school year (Fall, Winter and possibly Spring). The scores will be used to measure your child's growth in English Language Arts and Math from one test to the next test. The test will only take 45 to 60 minutes to complete and the questions will adjust to your child's ability based on their answers. This is why it is IMPORTANT that your child tries their very BEST on this test.
