Mountain View Weekly Update
December 16
Announcements & Updates
- Today, a school safety drill was conducted to practice the district’s processes and procedures in the event of an emergency. We successfully completed a shelter-in-place with all students and staff. This was a routine drill, and there is no reason for alarm or concern. Throughout the school year, we will continue to send notifications confirming the completion of a school security drill.
- The TREP$ Marketplace, originally scheduled for Thursday, 12/15, will take place on Tuesday, December 20 from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Mountain View.
- A reminder that Friday, December 23 is a minimal day (1:00 dismissal). Lunch will not be served; students may bring a snack.
- Although students are permitted to have refillable bottles in school, a reminder that only water is permitted. Further, permission to bring water bottles into the classroom is at the discretion of the teacher.
- Student Chromebooks will not be collected or disabled over the Winter break. During this time, parents are reminded to please monitor their child's technology use, including social media. For tips and more information on parental controls and managing screen time, please visit Common Sense Media's "Parents Need to Know" resources.
- Per Board of Education policy 2430, students must maintain passing grades (minimum 63%) in all classes to participate in Interscholastic Sports. Grades will be checked on December 20, the midpoint of the Winter season, and those students who do not meet the criteria will be ineligible to participate in athletics until their academic performance improves.

A message from the Health Office
It’s Winter Time!!
Flu and respiratory viruses continue to be prevalent in the community. Lingering cold symptoms and coughs are not unusual. As a reminder, please keep your children home if they are sick and reach out to us for guidance on attending school should you have any questions or concerns. Children may return to school after an absence for illness when they are fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication and symptoms have improved.
Please keep us informed of the reason for your child's absence. Providing a note from their healthcare provider is important should there be an absence of more than two days.
Please remind your children to wash their hands frequently, get ample rest and bring a water bottle to school daily. We are thankful for your continued efforts to support the wellness of our schools and community.
Wishing you peace, joy, and good health during the holiday season and in the New Year!
