A Note from Mrs. Pitts
Dear RES Families and Supporters,
Families of THIRD AND FOURTH graders, please save the following dates in your calendar. This year, we have invested a lot of time and energy into looking at student data to make decisions that help us individualize and differentiate our teaching. The state assessment is only ONE data point, but it is a data point that we do discuss and use.
We will send home a letter to families on April 1 about the state testing but we wanted to give these dates ahead of time so families could plan ahead.
May 4-Test practice simulation
May 9,10,11 ELA Testing for Grades 3 and 4
May 16, 17, 18 Math Testing for Grades 3 and 4
We truly appreciate your support,
Michelle Pitts and Lori Arsenault

REMOTE WEATHER DAYS!!: PLEASE READ!
Notes:
1. The schedule was created so siblings who are at RES would follow the SAME schedule.
2. The day is a half day schedule, not a full day.
3. We ask that students DO NOT do the work ahead of time as packets may be sent home and the links in the schedule contain activities. This work is for weather days only.
4. ATTENDANCE is key. Attendance is taken first thing and is noted on the schedule. If we do not have a certain percentage of attendance on this day, it will not count as a school day for us, as an RES team.
5. Teachers are available on Google Meet all morning, except during snack.
If you have any questions, please email Michelle Pitts!

NEW SECTION: Pick a Project!!!
THIS WEEK...
PROJECT 1: ANYONE!
We are looking for clean, empty chicken feed/bird seed bags.
PROJECT 2: GRADE 3
We are looking to build a new tradition. We would love to ask third grade families to be the decorators for the fourth grade "Moving On" ceremony. Of course, next year the future third grade families would return the favor and decorate and provide a treat for the current third graders. These volunteers might send a Sign Up Genuis out to get donations for balloons, a treat, etc... PLEASE email Michelle Pitts if you are willing to help!
PROJECT 3:
Work at our Bake Sale during VOTING DAY. Click here to help!

Lunch
- We have really loved having family members in for lunch! We do ask that you meet your child in the cafeteria and leave from the cafeteria.
- If students do not sign up for hot lunch in the morning in their classrooms they will not be able to get hot lunch in the cafeteria. We understand that children change their minds, but it is difficult to ensure we have enough meals for everyone in the last lunch. THANK YOU!

"LIFE ON A PLATE" HELP-WANTED
NEWSPAPERS: Our drama crew will be involved in a lot of Paper Maché in the coming weeks and we need LOTS of newspaper.
If you’re able, please drop off newspaper at the front office any time during the school day.
BRICK PAINTING COORDINATOR (WE NEED THIS!!!): We’re looking for someone to work with our Directors to lead our "Sponsor Brick Project”.
- This project is the big fundraiser for our program in lieu of doing a full-colored Playbill.
- Members of the community (as well as individuals) may purchase a “Brick” in our main lobby.
- Students will then paint a message and/or graphic on that brick, visible to all who visit.
- Our “Coordinator” will work with us in guiding the Sponsor sign-ups and the painting of the bricks:
- This person can be a teacher, staff member, or a parent; and we can certainly have more than 1 person - more fun working with someone!!
- A Team of parents/students will be assembled using a Sign-Up to go out into the community and signup the sponsors. Based on our experience at RJH re: community support, this should be quite smooth!!
- We’ll also assemble a Team of students (with adult supervision) to design and paint the bricks based on what the sponsors would like.
If you are interested in ANY part of this project please contact Jeffrey at dramawithjeffrey@gmail.com.

2. Voting Day Camp at Seacoast Art Spot, March 14th 8:30-3. $95. This is not a PTA related event, just sharing a fun option for our day off!
Seacoast ArtSpot Voting Day Camp
3. RES has created a QR code/ Cheddar up link for donations to their new prek-2 playground we hope to be completing this summer. March 24th they will hold a school wide walkathon to raise money. If you have been meaning to donate or have a family member who would like to donate to what will be a great new community playground please share! Playground Donation

Tapping Trees
Have you noticed the blue buckets on the trees on the edge of our parking lot? Have you wondered what they are there for? Thanks to an REF grant from last year, RES has started sugaring! These sap collecting buckets were set on Friday, February 17th by our amazing fourth graders. Over the course of the past couple of weeks, we have collected just about 65 gallons of sap! It was pumped from our tank (the big gray shed at the end of the lower lot) on Monday, March 6th and will be boiled down by Lister Academy at the end of this week. We will soon have our very own RES Maple Syrup!
