Principal Message

Dear Sequoia Families,


Last Friday was our annual Read-A-Thon Kick Off Assembly! Hopefully you received a flyer with a specific code to set up your child's Read-A-Thon dashboard. The Read-A-Thon begins on February 18th so there is still time to get it set up before we start logging reading sessions each day. It's all online which makes the whole thing really easy! It should be a great couple weeks of reading and fundraising for our school.


We are starting to plan for next year's walk-a-thon and looking for new parent volunteers that would like to help in making this a great event for our students next fall. If you're interested in being part of this team (don't worry, you won't be on your own!) please email me at bclark@rvusd.org. In addition, Sequoia is looking for more substitute teachers that we can rely on regularly at our site. If you are interested in substitute teaching, please email me so I can give more details about qualifications for this awesome opportunity.


It is the time of year to get feedback on our LCAP (Local Control Accountability Plan) from last year. I will review the goals and strategies for the 2018-2019 school year and would like to get feedback from you about what we can do better. I will be presenting this information on February 27th at 8:45 in the library. Come have a cup of coffee and give some feedback!


Tonight is our Mountain Mike's Dine and Donate! Mention Sequoia when you order and a percentage will go back to our school. Hope to see you there!

2020 Sequoia Read - A - Thon

Our Read-A-Thon begins on February 18th and goes until March 2nd. You should have received a flyer with a specific code for setting up your child's Read-A-Thon Dashboard. We are encouraging all our students to read each day and log it on their dashboard accounts starting on Feb. 18th.


Ask family or friends to support your student and our school in this reading event! There are prizes for classes and individuals that read and earn the most for this fundraiser. Funds will go toward assemblies, fieldtrips, teacher and classroom needs and more!

Winter Fruit!

Thanks to SPC and some helpful 6th graders, we now have a new dwarf orange tree in our garden. We added this tree so students will have a winter fruit to harvest, study and snack on. It will have fragrant white flowers in the spring and will produce seedless, sweet tasting oranges
