Picture Day(s)

Barclay School picture days are coming up October 19th and 20th. Student pictures are done by homeroom - you should have received information related to ordering last week. If you have any questions regarding picture day(s) feel free to email the school at barclay.elementary@bcs1.org

Reflections Art Program

It's time for the 2022 Reflections Art Program! Brockport PTSA welcomes students in grades K-8 to explore and be involved in the arts. Students can submit original works of art in the areas of Dance Choreography, Literature, Photography and Visual Arts. There is also a Special Artists Division for students who identify as having a disability and may receive services under IDEA or ADA: Section 504. They may enter in the Special Artist Division or grade division most closely aligned to their functional abilities. Students earn positive recognition for their achievements! This year's theme is "Show Your Voice!" The entry deadline is Friday, 11/4/22. See the flyer below for details.

Wearable Devices

With the ever-improving technology available, many of our younger students are wearing fitness watches to school. It is fantastic that students are able to keep track of their daily steps, sleep patterns, and pulse. Many of these devices also have the capability to call and text. While it is a wonderful opportunity to remain connected, please know that they can also be a distraction during a school day. If you need to message a student, I would recommend doing it through our office or waiting until there is an appropriate break in the instructional day. I love my Fitbit, but I have to continually train myself to ignore it when I'm in a meeting. It can be a challenging task for a 7 or 8 year-old student.
