A spectacular evening is planned for Saturday, April 29, 2023 at the Fox Cities Exhibition Center in Appleton. Will you be there? The time is now to secure your seats and build your table.
The funds raised at Zephyrfest allow SMCS to welcome families who might otherwise be unable to fit private school into their budget. “I once was lost, but now am found, was blind, but now I see.”
The immortal words of “Amazing Grace” have probably crossed our lips or moved our hearts countless times. Maybe the song brings to mind a funeral, or a particular moment in church, or even mournful bagpipes. But those lyrics bring us to the heart of today’s Gospel. In the man born blind, we are meant to see ourselves.
Jesus, “the light of the world”, brings His light to this man, and to us. In every human encounter – the extraordinary or the mundane – there is the potential for “the works of God to be made visible.” Could we imagine our own blindness, flaws, and shortcomings as a hidden opportunity for God to be glorified?
In meeting Jesus, the man is “found” and healed in a dramatic way. We, too, long to be found, to be seen, to be known and loved. That happens by acknowledging our blindness, and opening ourselves to the love and mercy of the Lord. As with the blind man, Jesus invites us to take the next step as disciples. Let’s seek out His healing in prayer and Reconciliation this Lent!
