CELEBRATIONS
Great things are happening at WCS!
The Woolwich Basketball season has come to an end! The boys were led by their 8th graders, but the future is bright with all of the young talent on the team. They worked hard and put forth tremendous effort, finishing as the #3 seed in the league. Our girls showed growth this season with a young team and had some big wins. They came up short in the playoffs against Bristol, but it wasn't for a lack of effort. We are proud of both teams and the good sportsmanship they displayed all season long!
KINDERGARTEN CAN DRIVE
We are nearing the 100th day of kindergarten. It should happen Tuesday, 2/13 unless we have a snow day. As a way to mark this exciting day, the kindergarten classes will do a variety of group activities around the number 100, including collecting 100 cans of food for the local food bank. This project gives the students many math opportunities for counting and grouping and the donations go to help hungry families in our community.

THINGS TO TALK ABOUT
- February Vacation is coming right up! If your family will be missing 2 or more days of school, please remember to complete a Planned Absence form for each student. This helps teachers plan their classroom work and allows the office to excuse the absence. CLICK HERE to access the form!
- We have been reviewing recess safety expectations with students this month. Some of the rules for the playground include: no throwing snow, stay off any icy spots, and no pushing-games. Feel free to talk with your students about the importance of safety in their play at recess time and at home!
- Join us at Woolwich Central School at 4:30pm on Thursday, 2/8 for the county level of the Scripps National Spelling Bee! WCS students, Millie Polizotto and Caroline Luchies will compete against students from Woodside Elementary School for the chance to continue on to the State level! Good luck spellers!!
