The Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) announced the final timeline for restarting annual renewals in public health care programs. With Medicaid eligibility newly becoming a part of direct certification, which is currently tied to the compensatory revenue formula, schools could be affected by this change.

Medical Assistance and MinnesotaCare renewals were paused during the pandemic. Renewals are now restarting. The more than 1.5 million Minnesotans on Medical Assistance and MinnesotaCare will need their program eligibility reviewed through a renewal process by May 2024.

On May 8, the Windom School Board approved a new Strategic Plan to guide the work of the district for the next 3-5 years. Thank you to community members, staff, and students who participated through completing the survey, attending a listening session, or serving on the committee.

I wish you the very best summer and I hope you all enjoy time together as a family. Windom School's playgrounds are always open at the Elementary and Highland. Feel free to play on the equipment or bring a ball and shoot some hoops. The public library is another great place to visit and read new books. The pool has open swim everyday at 2:00 and don't forget about the numerous playground around the city like Kastle Kingdom, Cottonwood Lake, and Island Park. Also, on most nights, you can find a ball game taking place at the Recreation Park or Island Park. Cheer on your favorite Windom Team! There's so much to enjoy during these summer months!
