Today our very own Mr. Dorr shared his love of bees with us. He has been a beekeeper for over 20 years. Our Early Childhood students had the opportunity to watch a classroom veteran teacher present to his young audience. The ability to keep a class engaged is a skill they will need to have for their future careers.

The children learned about his special suit, how to stay safe around bees, and about their different jobs. We also learned that bees like to live near flowers and will "dance" to show others where the flowers are. The children looked at real bees under a magnifying glass to see their wings and bodies. It was fun to watch Mr. Dorr spin the honey from the combs and collect the honey into jars. The best part of our day was getting to taste the sweet honey. We all loved it and wanted more. We are going to look for bees out in our communities around the flowers in our gardens. Thank you, Mr. Dorr, for sharing your knowledge. We had so much fun.

Culinary Arts was hopping busy today making "bunny cakes"! Great job creating this wonderful cake!
