If you would like to volunteer at our Town Center Book Fair, we'd love to have you join us! Our volunteers will work at the registers and support our kids as they spend time in the Book Fair shopping. We have available times throughout the day and during Open House Night. Any volunteers that arrive at school and do not have a background check completed, will not be able to work that day.

Our February database spotlight is TumbleMath. Through MackinVIA, learners can click on the database TumbleMath and have access to a comprehensive collection of math picture books with engaging animation and narration features. The math picture books bring the concepts to life in an easy and accessible way. The books are accompanied by supplemental materials including quizzes. Learners are able to reread books as many times as they want to reinforce the math concepts and support comprehension. Books are organized by topic, and there is a searchable index.

We are partnering with several other CISD elementary schools to host a spring Parent /Family Engagement Night on Monday, March 28th with a presentation entitled "Bounce Back" from the Grant Halliburton Foundation starting at 6:30 P.M. in the Austin Elementary Cafeteria. This presentation explores how adults can help children navigate stress, challenge, tragedy, trauma, or adversity. The presenters will focus on the following:

• Learning about the vital elements of resilience and how they impact child development

• Understanding Dr. Kenneth Ginsburg’s 7 Cs of Resiliency

• Developing skills for teaching children how to use challenges and setbacks as building blocks for resiliency

• Recognizing adversity as an opportunity to empower students to bounce back

Town Center Elementary is wrapping up Kids Heart Challenge with the American Heart Association. Thank you so much for helping our campus stay heart-healthy and save lives at the same time! Every dollar makes a difference, and we hope you will take 1 final action to help us reach our goal.

A big thank you to our families for communicating positive student Covid cases to us. In order to help streamline the communication process for both families and our campus nurse, please fill out the following Google Form if your child receives a positive Covid-19 test. Once our nurse has received the form from a family, she will reach out to them during school hours to discuss a return date to school and any questions they may have.
