A Great Year!
School hours this year are 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. Please do not drop off your child unattended in the mornings prior to 7:30 am.
I LOVE TO READ DAY AT BELLE ELEMENTARY!
Teachers will be present and we are planning a great night to give you information about your child's reading. We will have reading scores to share, curriculum pamphlets, and i-Ready reading scores. Fourth grade students will also receive their MAP scores from the 22-23 school year.
SLEEP -
Many times when young students are sent to the office, they are often showing signs of being sleep deprived. It is not unusual for a child to fall asleep while they are in the office. Helping students have great days at school and be an active learner can start with a good night's sleep. Below is information from the Mayo Clinic on child sleep requirements.
- Sleep quality. If your sleep is frequently interrupted, you're not getting quality sleep. The quality of your sleep is just as important as the quantity.
- Previous sleep deprivation. If you're sleep deprived, the amount of sleep you need increases.
September is Attendance Awareness Month!
Each day that your child is at school they are learning. Missing just a couple of days can set your child behind in their academic progress. Our elementary goal for the school year is 90% of students will attend school 90% of the time. Last school year students were able to achieve this goal. When considering this goal, two days of absence in a full school month is 87% attendance.
PICTURE DAY!
I-Ready Diagnostic
The i-Ready Math Diagnostic will be given on September 26th - October 13th for grades 1 -4. Like the reading Diagnostic valuable information of how students are doing in math and where their instruction needs to be focused comes from this test.
As a parent you can help by encouraging your child to do their best on the test, have them arrive to school on time, and check with them each day during testing on how they are doing.
Below is a link for more information from i-Ready about the diagnostic.

ARTSONIA
Artsonia permission forms went out recently. If you haven’t given permission yet for your kiddo to show off their work online, now is a GREAT time to do it! You’ll be able to see what they are up to in art class, and you can order items with their artwork on it! There are a good range of items for purchase, and they are all great quality! These make really wonderful Christmas gifts, Mother’s Day/Father’s Day gifts, birthday gifts, or even just because gifts! I still have a key chain my now Freshman in college created the artwork for in 4th grade! The art department does get a kick back from purchases, which helps me pay for things to build up my classroom!
You can check out the website at www.artsonia.com, but will need the permission form with your student’s access code on it to grant permission for others to see their work. Feel free to contact me at atibbetts@mariesr2.org if you have any questions, or if you need the access code!
