Superintendent Briefing
February 2021
A Note from Dr. Hanson, Superintendent
Stay The Course,
As many of you now know, our community risk dial returned to red last Thursday, January 28th. A change followed this in our state-wide directed health measure, which loosened regulations for many activities or events. We feel it is vital to share that North Platte Public Schools will ‘Stay The Course’ with our COVID-19 Plan and Playbooks. In partnership with you, we have done very well with keeping our schools open and allowing for face-to-face learning and would like to conclude the school year in this manner.
As a reminder, with your help, we have been able to; teach in-person, participate in activities including speech, drama, music, sports, and many others, as well as allow our students a safe, food-secure place to be during the school year.
Because of you and the efforts you have put in, we are thriving in this global pandemic! Thank you.
We invite you to re-visit our District Plan and School Playbooks at any time.: https://nppsd.socs.net/vnews/display.v/ART/5f1f3efdcc6ef
Plan and Playbook - Highlights
1. Masks are required at all NPPS facilities.
2. Hand washing and proper hygiene are necessary to slow the spread of viruses.
3. Social Distance of at least 6 feet when possible.
4. Clean rooms, air, and facilities are a must at each building.
5. Gatherings of more than three people are to be conducted via Zoom or other media sources.
6. Entering buildings and Raptor through the designated doors will help with contact tracing if needed. Please use and enforce this concept at each facility.
7. Visitors are not allowed in the buildings during this time.
8. Field trips are suspended until further notice.
9. Technology is available for students and families who are out due to illness or who choose remote learning.
10. Take care of yourselves, your teams, and your students by practicing the safety guidelines outlined in our plan and playbooks.
Again, thank you for your support during this difficult time.
Best Regards,
Dr. Ron Hanson, Superintendent

Technology
We now have "Self-Serve" in the Parent Portal
Have you moved to a new location or have a different phone number? Did your household membership change?
We now have "Self-Serve" in the Parent Portal.
What this means is you as parents and guardians of North Platte Public School students can make change requests through your parent portal account for address information, demographic data, and family information. This is a convenient way for you to keep your household information current to avoid missing any communication from your student’s teacher, principal, or the district office. These requests are then processed and updated by the IC system administrator at McKinley
You can find these features under "MORE" in the menu.
If you have not signed up for a Parent Portal account, you can send an email to welcomecenter@nppsd.org and include your
Student(s) name(s)
birthdate(s)
grade(s)
school(s) they are attending
As soon as this information is confirmed you will receive your Activation Key number and instructions explaining how to set up your account, via email.
There are other convenient and cool features coming to Parent Portal.

Kids Klub
Welcome back Kids Klub staff and students!
Welcome back, everyone!
Kids Klub was able to take a few more students from our waitlists this month, and we continue to monitor those lists daily. We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as we navigate our new normal.
January has left us feeling very excited for the spring months. We have several projects in the works.
I have been asked to participate in a state-wide advisory board titled Million Girl Moonshot, a collaborative effort to engage female students in STEM programs. We are very excited about the opportunities this will allow our program to participate in.
We are also working with the North Platte Community Playground build committee. This new playground, set to be built in Centennial Park this fall, is coming together splendidly, and your students helped design it. Check out their Facebook page and consider donating to assist our efforts.
We have had lots of questions about Summer Kids Klub. Stay tuned for more information coming soon.
Thank you again for the support you continue to give our schools and our after school program.
