Dear Page Hilltop Families:

We held our first spirit day of the school year on Friday and Panther Pride was seen all around the school. It was a great day and you can view some photos below.

We hope to see you all at our Family Picnic / Open House on this upcoming Wednesday. It will be an amazing / exciting time for both Page Hilltop staff & families!

We are pleased to announce that we will be hosting a live Open House event again this year. We will also be bringing back our "Family Welcome Back Picnic" to start the evening's festivities.

Mark your calendar for the evening of Wednesday, September 28th!

All Page Hilltop families are invited to assemble on the front lawns (next to the cafeteria) to enjoy a family meal and meet other families & school staff. Families should bring their own meals with them. At 6:30 you are cordially invited to enter the school for the Open House.

Preschool Open-House:

• 4:30-5:30 Classroom Open House with students

Grades K-5 Open-House:

• 5:30-6:30 Family Picnic on the front lawn
• 6:30-8:00 Classroom Open House

Mr. Whittemore and Mrs. Godin's Classes: Students in the 5th-grade have been busy during science class conducting "Solid, Liquid, Gas" experiments.

Mrs. Oppenheim and Mrs. Burke's Classroom: Third graders in Mrs. Oppenheim and Mrs. Burke's class worked in teams to debate whether Page Hilltop should have a therapy dog or cat. Students who wanted to have a therapy cat worked with Mrs. Burke and students who wanted a therapy dog worked with Mrs. Oppenheim. Students agreed upon three convincing reasons to support their claim and wrote an essay that they shared with Mr. Deppe and Mr. Lutinski. In the end, both Mr. Deppe and Mr. Lutinski could not pick a winner as both sides had very convincing reasons.

Ms. Messina's Class: Students in Ms. Messina's class made "Kindness Rocks" to spread some kindness throughout the school. Students worked during their morning SEL block to design and paint the rocks. On Thursday, they took some time to spread positivity by delivering them to teachers throughout the building.

Mrs. Thebeau's Class: At the beginning of the month, the students set a reading goal for the class as well as a reward. Then, they begin reading books. Once they complete reading a book, they write down some information on a paper book such as the title, the genre, and a brief summary. Then, they fold the paper book into a 3D book and stack them on top of other paper books building a book tower.

The students reading goal for the month of September was 60 books. The students achieved the goal early, and they will receive their reward on Monday which will be items from the prize box. They are all very excited.

We will also set our new goal/ challenge for October.

We want to thank all of our parents who have been supportive of our school safety guidelines, especially when it comes to moving vehicles.

Thank you for following our drop-off & pick-up guidelines as you drive slowly and carefully through our school zones.

Thank you for being patient as we walk our students to and from the recess playground

It is great to see many parents parking down below and walking to the PH entrance to bring their children to school in the morning and meet them in the afternoon.

We enjoy meeting all of our parents, as well as younger siblings (future PH students)

A couple of reminders for all:

• Please remember to plan out your morning schedule so that your children at school prior to 8:40 am
• Please remember that students are not dismissed until 3:15 and there is no need to be at school any earlier than that.
• If your child is going to be absent, please make sure you call the school office AND send an email to the classroom teacher.
• If your child arrives at school after 8:40, a parent or adult must walk the child into the office and speak to the office staff.
• Preschool Parents: we remind you that you should not be exceeding 10 mph as you proceed up the back access road.
• IMPORTANT REMINDER: Per Massachusetts law, vehicles should never be left idling while parked on school property.

We were happy to have 5 parents contact us last week, asking if there was a way they could volunteer and help out at school. We are coordinating volunteer roles for all of them.

We welcome more parents who may be interested.

As mentioned in last week's newsletter, we welcome any ideas for after-school enrichment activities.

The worldwide Dance for Kindness will return live on Sunday, November 13th! The event will be held at 1:00pm downtown on Main Street. We are so excited about the return of this awesome community event.

Dance registration goes live this week. Watch for special notices coming home. We hope you all will consider taking part - either as a dancer or a spectator.
