Hello Dragons!

We have been working hard in the library preparing our own wishing tree that is based off of the book titled “The Wishing Tree” written by Meika Hashimoto and illustrated by Xindi Yan. This sweet story is about a young child named Theo that didn’t see any spirit of Christmas in his little town. He writes a letter to Santa with the wish of showing him the magic of Christmas instead of asking for toys. Throughout the story Theo and the town experience the spirit of Christmas and are brought together by the wishing tree. Each student was given a green paper hand to write what they would wish for in their community, family, or school. Soon I will share how beautiful our own wishing tree turns out. I love how stories bring us together. Remember, good things happen when you read!

If your child has winter clothing that is no longer worn, please consider giving to the PUSD Clothing Closet! Kim Kahn, our Family Resource Director, is accepting all sizes at this point.

Winter clothing only (no pillows, bedding, etc), in great condition is much needed. Donations can be dropped off in Sierra's office or at the Family Resource Center located at Schnell School.

Placerville USD invites parents, teachers, students, administrators, board members, food services staff and members of the community to meetings about the school wellness policy. The school wellness policy helps our school create an action plan for nutrition education, nutrition promotion and physical activity at school. At our HEAC meetings, people are invited to share opinions and make sure the policy is meeting the needs of our students.

FREE PRODUCE, DIAPERS AND GENTLY USED CLOTHING - Visit the Family Resource Center on the Schnell school campus from 12-4 on Wednesday, December 13 for fresh produce (while supplies last) and clothing from the Clothing Closet. Diapers available from the Community HUBS starting at 1pm.

Eligibility Requirements: If you currently receive CalFresh, food stamps, SNAP, MediCal, SSI, Veterans or Survivor Benefits, WIC, Unemployment, or Workers Comp, you may qualify; You may also qualify with income less than $34,000/year or $40,600/yr for a household of 4, or a Federal/Tribal notice letter of participation in General Assistance.

Must have: a photo ID, address, and income proof such as W2, benefits card or paperwork.
