Part of this year's Homecoming Week's Activities will include a Lip Sync Battle on Monday, September 19. Auditions are required & will be held next Monday, Sept. 12th before school and on Tuesday, Sept. 13th after school. Music should be prepared. The top 5 scoring teams, regardless of class/grade level, will compete to earn points for their grade level. See Mrs. Johnston or SGA members for more info & to sign up to audition.

The Prom Committee has been selected. All applicants should check to see if their name is on the list posted outside of Room 404. There will be a mandatory meeting on Wednesday, September 21.

If you are interested in joining a youth advocacy group called Today's Youth, Tomorrow's Leaders, stop by guidance and get an application.

Juniors and sophomores interested in participating in the Christopher Columbus essay contest should stop by guidance and get an application.

SPARKMAN 9: The Scholars’ Bowl Team is a club that will challenge your mind and provide an opportunity to learn new and interesting facts. This Team’s purpose is to advance and showcase student knowledge and will compete against county and area schools. This involves weekly practice and weekly matches at the Career Academy. The primary areas of challenge are math, social studies, literature, music, general science, chemistry, art, general trivia, and mythology. Students whose grades are A's or B's and would like to apply for this Team, should stop by S9 Room 166 and pick up an application.

S9 FCA and First Priority meets every Thursday at 7:50 AM in the S9 Auditorium.

The Cross Country team had great showing Saturday, Sept. 3 at the Bob Jones Invitational. Eight Senators set new Personal Records (PRs). Senior Alex Hendrix, Juniors Miysteriey Anderson, Diana Baskin, Abby Wallace, Sophomores Brian Austin and Alaric Jack set new PRs in their Varsity 5K events. MMS 8th graders Austin Al-Dijaili and McKenna Kjelshus set new PRs at the 2.1 mile distance.

Junior Varsity Boy's team continues to impress bringing home the FIRST place trophy, while the Varsity Boy's and Junior Varsity Girl's teams finished SECOND in their divisions.

Placing in the Boy's Varsity were Seniors Jake Russell and Harrison Miller with Sophomore John David Ray, finishing second, third and ninth respectively. Senior Hailey Brown led the Varsity Girls with another great race finishing with a solid fourth place. JV Boys had FIVE top ten finishers, Austin Al’Dijaili coming home first, Freshmen Matthew Livingston and Omar Myers placing third and fifth, MMS seventh grader Patrick Moody seventh and Freshman Noah Terry tenth. Three JV Girls had top ten, Freshman Elisha Jones led the team with a second place, followed by MMS 8th graders McKenna Kjelshus and Baily Wallace placing eighth and tenth.

The team’s next meet is the Chickasaw Trails Invitational on Saturday, September 10th. Good Luck Senators!
