A MESSAGE FROM OUR ADMINISTRATION

Greetings Jacket Family!
It is hard to believe we just closed out the first grading period of the second semester already! Report cards will go home next Thursday, February 22nd and our Jacket PRIDE celebration will be on the 23rd! As a reminder, students qualify for Jacket PRIDE by not owing any recovery, passing all of their classes, and not having any level II or above discipline referrals for the grading period. I encourage you to talk to your child about this and congratulate them if they qualify! If they did not qualify, I encourage you to discuss action steps they can take to make sure they will be eligible for the next grading period. We have these conversations with our students on an almost daily basis but they benefit from hearing it from home as well! It takes a village and, as always, we continue to be so thankful for our BHS "village"!
We also have our spring parent-teacher conference night scheduled for Thursday, February 22nd from 5-7pm. If you would like to come speak to any of your child's teachers, you can stop in or email the teacher(s) to set up a specific time! Strong school-home relations are a big part in our students' successes!
If your child owes recovery due to absences, you will be getting a call home and your child will have received a slip of paper this week letting them know how much they owe. Our first opportunity to recover these absences is next week, Tuesday-Thursday. The schedule is attached.
Hope you all have a great weekend!

Reminders from Nurse Sherrill:
Parents,
Please be reminded to keep your student at home and notify the school nursing office if your child has a fever or has nausea/vomiting. The nursing office is required to keep track of various illnesses for the State. Right now, BHS is seeing an increase in stomach virus symptoms among students.
Per State guidelines, a student must be fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medication before returning to school. A student must also be vomit free for 24 hours before coming back to school. Good communication with the nursing office will ensure you receive updated, accurate information on absences due to illness.
MD office visits and/or virtual visits are required to receive medical excuses for missed class time. Without a medical excuse, your child's time out of school will be unexcused. There will be no excuses given from the nursing office if a student comes to school and requests to go home before the start of 1st block.
Please call the nursing office with questions/concerns.
