Principal's Message
Happy Friday Cougar Families!
The results are in and once again Steele Canyon is on top! Our students outperformed nearly every other comprehensive school in East County on the ELA, Math, and Science in the 2023 administration of the Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBAC). Additionally, our growth on all three tests outpaced all other schools in our area. This accomplishment is a community effort that was led by our students. It deserves our recognition and we look forward to celebrating our learning outcomes over the next several months.
Lastly, we want to recognize that we feel that these scores represent the beginning of what is to come. I have the privilege to observe excellent teaching and learning on a daily basis at our school and I am excited and inspired by the level of achievement that our students are capable of. The SBAC is an important metric but it is only one part of producing college and career ready graduates. Additional metrics that are trending upwards for Steele Canyon include an increased number of students completing Career Technical Education (CTE) Pathways, taking college classes, and passing Advanced Placement (AP) Tests.
It is a great time to be a Cougar and we thank you for choosing Steele Canyon High School
Rah! Rah! Cougars
