Partner Updates
NJCH's Communities of Practice
NJCH is establishing Communities of Practice as part of their In the Weeds program based around professional development and skill building. This year, NJCH will pilot a new community of practice for public librarians, family and ESL literacy educators, and book lovers from all walks of life. Gatherings in this community will provide opportunities to discuss and share best practices for public reading and discussion programs. Most (if not all) meetings will occur virtually over Zoom, and there are no entry or membership fees for taking part.
- To participate in this Community of Practice, fill out the interest form here.
- To learn more about the first Zoom meeting on Wednesday, March 26th (12:30-1:30pm), click here.
Prime Time Family Reading
This year, NJCH will become an affiliate of Prime Time Family Reading, a national program serving 6- to 10-year-old children and their families. During the six weeks of each session, participating families gather once a week to share a meal, read stories together, and talk about the big ideas that are foundational to our society through storytelling and conversation.
NJCH is looking for two public libraries in different parts of the state to serve as host sites as they pilot this program in the coming year. Host sites help to recruit families, arrange for logistics, and host the programs, all with funding from NJCH.
- Visit the website's Programs section for more information.
- To view the recoding of the virtual information session, click here.
- Application deadline is May 7th.
