PE with Coach Weir
On February 9th we had our school wide Kids Heart Challenge/Jump rope for heart event. In preparation for Kids Heart Challenge, this past month we have been learning how to take care of our hearts and participating in cardio-pumping challenges involving jumping. Students have been raising money for the American Heart Association to help kids with special hearts. During this event, grade levels came outside to show off their jump roping skills individually and with their peers. We will conclude our jump rope lesson the week of March 3rd.
The week of February 28, we will begin our dance unit. We will end it with a dance-a-thon on March 1st. Glowsticks will be available for purchase beginning February 28th. No outside glowsticks will be allowed.

Music with Mrs. Frietze who is now Mrs. McLellan
Hi Conlee Family! Your musicians have been doing an excellent job this year! So far, we have been focusing on steady beat, how to sing, and read music through dancing, folk songs, and much more. Here is what we can look forward to for the remainder of the year.
5th grade has been working extremely hard learning their recorder. We have been learning Recorder Karte, earning belts by mastering different songs. Recorders will be stored in the music classroom until the end of the school year.
4th grade will be learning how to read music notes and start preparing for their 5th grade curriculum.
2nd grade through 3rd grade will continue to learn about music around the world through singing, playing Orff instruments, and through the history of composers. They will be having upcoming concerts in February. You will be receiving a letter in their backpack containing all the details pertaining to these events.
1st grade and kinder will continue to learn about steady beat, note values, and rhythms through Orff and percussion instruments.
Thank you for your continuous support!

Library with Ms. Wood
Conlee library books are just waiting for students to check them out! There are many students in each grade level that are working their way through a series and many that are finishing chapter books for the first time.
We are very proud to have the Inchy Book Vending machine at Conlee! In order to earn a coin for a free book students must complete and turn in their parent signed weekly reading logs to their teachers.
Students are working hard to read daily to fill up their reading logs and earn a coin. Reading at home is a great way for students to enhance their reading skills and by doing so they earn free books for their very own book collection.
In addition to the books we have in the library, Conlee also has ebooks students can read at home on their computer or electronic device.
Here are some tutorials on how to find these ebooks for check out.
Student may also enroll in my Epic! books class. They will have access to the books on the site for free from 7am-3pm on weekdays.
Here are some tutorials on how to find the ebooks for check out and a little sneak peek of what you can find on Epic! books.
If you have any questions, head down to the library and ask Ms. Wood. Parents, should you have questions please email me and I will be happy to help any way I can.
