News from Dr. Orzel
District 113A Families,
The 2015-16 school year has begun! A new school year marks a fresh start and a new beginning filled with opportunities.
This year, we will continue implementing our proactive communications plan and will keep you informed about district happenings. Additionally, our district Facebook page now has 353 likes! This is a great way for us to easily push out information to you beyond our Blackboard Connect e-blasts. Many of our teachers now have Twitter accounts where they are posting pictures of learning experiences in their classrooms. Check them out!
We continue to focus on our strategic plan and look forward to the future of District 113A. Please take a moment and check out the Core Values and Strategic Plan above for your review.
As you know, we continue to remain fiscally responsible and analyze our financial condition regularly. We are proud to report a balanced budget once again for the district as well as a perfect financial profile score. As we analyze our revenues and expenditures, and continue to monitor what is coming out of Springfield, we continue to keep our students at the forefront of our decisions.
We look forward to a continued strong partnership with our families and community. We have created comprehensive parent and community engagement plans to provide outreach to our community and activities for families. You will find a survey below that will ask you for your suggestions on how we can improve our family engagement for you. If you haven’t taken the survey yet, please do. Your feedback is important to us.
The district will engage in a comprehensive district system assessment this year. This process will allow us to benchmark ourselves against research-based standards in the areas of curriculum, instruction and assessment and will have a focus on learning, collaboration and results. We look forward to sharing the results of the assessment with you with our ultimate goal of continuously improving our teaching and learning practices for our students.
Exciting things continue to happen in District 113A. It is an honor to serve our community. Thank you for your continued support of our schools.
Respectfully,
Dr. Courtney Orzel
