Each day you invest all of your energy in caring for your students. We truly hope you took time to celebrate and enjoy your family as you sharpened the saw with some turkey time.

Book Fair

Setup will be on Monday, November 27th starting at 3pm and normally runs for about 2 hours. The book fair will run from Wednesday, November 29th - Noon on Saturday, December 2nd. Fair hours are Wednesday - Friday 8:30am - 3:30pm and Saturday during the Winter Festival from 9am-12pm.

Resource of the Week

Read and Write for Google Chrome

The program is great for students who struggle to spell and write. When used in conjunction with a speech to text program like the one found in Google Docs, struggling writers can produce well thought out pieces of text in a fraction of the time it would have taken them to handwrite - and with very few errors. Give it a try today!

Spotlight Author: Patricia Polacco

During this time of year, I think it is especially important to be aware of the many different holidays our students may celebrate. Patricia Polacco has many books that weave in various holidays throughout the text. Check out these books! If you would like, Liz and I are happy to come read aloud.

The Trees of the Dancing Goats

Trisha loves the eight days of Hanukkah, when her mother stays home from work, her Babushka makes delicious potato latkes, and her Grampa carves wonderful animals out of wood as gifts for Trisha and her brother.. It is difficult for them to enjoy their Hanukkah feast when they know that their neighbors won't be able to celebrate their holiday. Grandpa's inspiration saves the holidays for all!

Welcome Comfort

It's not easy being Welcome Comfort-a foster child always moving from home to home and getting picked on by the kids at school. Even Christmas, the most wondrous time of the year, isn't so wondrous for Welcome, since he has no family, no presents, and no Santa Claus. But when Welcome meets Mr. Hamp, the school custodian, he finally finds a friend. And when Christmas comes around, Welcome is taken on an extraordinary adventure that changes his life forever.

Christmas Tapestry

When a leak ruins the sacristy wall in his father’s church, Jonathan Jefferson Weeks thinks Christmas Eve service will be ruined. Luckily he and his father find a beautiful tapestry, perfect for covering the damaged wall and giving the church a festive look! But then, an old Jewish woman recognizes the beautiful cloth. Her discovery leads to a real miracle on Christmas Eve.

District Wide Book Club

Parents, teachers, and the greater Lindbergh Community are invited to participate in a book discussion of Blindspot: Hidden Biases of Good People by Mahzarin R. Banaji and Anthony G. Greenwald. Two discussion dates are offered: Tuesday January 9th, 7:30 pm at Crestwood Elementary, 1020 Sappington Rd, 63126 or Saturday January 13th, 2:30 pm at Grant’s View Library, 9700 Musick Ave, 63123. Head Lice Reminder

Please take a moment to review our district head lice policy. This was recently updated to reflect current policies set forth by recommendations from 3 major health departments. As a parent, it is a good reminder to do random spot checks on your child.

When a child is identified with having active head lice at school, the child’s parent/guardian is notified and provided with information about treatment. Students will be sent home at the end of the day and may return to school after they have received treatment at home. School nurses will work with families to ensure proper treatment and management of head lice. Lindbergh Schools follows the recommendation of the American Academy of Pediatrics and does not exclude students from school because of head lice or nits.

School nurses will inform parents/guardians when there is an unusual clustering of head lice cases in a particular classroom, grade level, or building. Continued communication and collaboration with the school nurse will reduce the stigma of head lice, clarify myths, and provide accurate information about effective treatment options.
