Welcome to our CTS Snapshot - a weekly celebration update. We are delighted to share with parents and carers alike student triumphs at Corby Technical School. We are proud of every student and every success they have - please feel free to share with us any achievements they might have.
Year 7 Activity Week
Team Building
Year 7 students have taken part in activity week, with lots of trips and activities and spending time making new friendships.
Fun at Rutland Water
Students have spent the week taking part in exciting activities including water sports at Rutland Water.
Learning new skills
Students also spent time with our CCF students looking at survival skills.
Cookery
Students have been creating homemade pizzas.
Cinema Trip and Swimming
There was also a visit to the cinema and to Corby International Swimming Pool.
Daffodil Planting
Two students from each Year 7 form group helped plant 650 daffodil bulbs – one for each student in the school. We look forward to seeing them flower in the spring
Year 13 Residential - CERN
The Globe Exhibition
Year 13 Physics students are in CERN and visited the Globe exhibition which includes spectacular light show that links their research to our understanding of the universe.
United Nations Building
This is the view from the main building of the UN. The scenery is impressive but our students were surprised to learn that they graze sheep.
Boat Trip - Lake Geneva
Students took a boat trip on Lake Geneva and have saw a number of impressive sights including the famous fountain.

Students:
- Mrs Keogh has nominated Year 7 student Liam for always being helpful and polite.
- Mrs Vaghadia has nominated Year 8 student Louis for his fantastic commitment, dedication and hard work in Geography. Also nominated is Year 9 student Lana for producing very high quality work in RSCS and Darcey and Israel for their outstanding contribution to the lessons.
- Mrs Wiley has nominated Year 9 student Andrew for his support of a younger student enabling her to take part in an activity he was helping to run.
- Mr Godfrey has nominated the Year 13 students who visited CERN this week, your were all amazing ambassadors for the school.
- Miss McGrath has nominated the following students for superb work in Science this term, Year 11 student Liam, Year 10 student Aidan and Year 9 student Leila. Also nominated are the Year 9 triple Biology group for their hard work and brilliant practical work this term.
- Miss Fenner has nominated Adam, James and Seth in Year 8 for their excellent RSCS presentations, Mya, Sarah and Alicia Year 8 for their brilliant poetry assessments, Ashley, Sonny and Sunny in Year 10 for their excellent contributions to English this term and finally Ollie and Kamil in Year 11 for their hard work and dedication this term.
- Mrs Wright would like to thank all senior CCF cadets that supported Year 7 Activity week, and also the 1st year students, Toby, Alicia and Nive.
Literacy:
School Library
The Library has now stocked subject specific books for wider reading for all students to use
Year 7 Design and Technology
Mr Harley’s group have been learning key technical language in DT this week
Literacy Stars of the Week:
Students:
- Year 7 student Courtney for selecting a reading book from the Library for the form to read this term – great choice!
- Year 8 student Myrtle for excellent use of key vocabulary in her Art work.
- Year 9 students George and Joseph for challenging themselves to use new vocabulary in History.
Literacy News:
Literacy leaders from year 8-10 have are in the process of designing whole school tutor time activities.
Entries have been coming for the Literacy Lurkers – the first prize will be awarded Friday Week 1, Term 2.
Reminders:
- School will close today for the two week break and will reopen to staff and students on Monday 28th October 2019.
