A good number of Miscoe interviews have been scheduled for Monday 2/14, Tuesday 2/15 & Wednesday 2/16. Interview zoom links will be sent to their primary parent/guardian via email on the day before each interview date. Any Monday interviews should have received this email Friday 2/11. Take note that not ALL of Miscoe’s interviews are on these dates. Due to number of interviews, time constraints when scheduling slots and when an application was submitted, there will be additional scheduling of Miscoe’s interviews on TBD dates. Families will be notified per usual through email when their interviews have been scheduled. Parents/Guardians should be patient if they have yet to receive an interview date. Our Inspired Learning Days are days where we throw away the traditional schedule, and with the help of professional community partners, organize a day of meaningful learning for our students. The day is designed to connect the learning that takes place everyday in our classrooms to the real world while centering around student interests.

Inspired Learning Day is this Wednesday! Ask your student what classes they've signed up for!

We are excited to announce that MURSD has received a grant to host Math Academies over both February and April vacations. This week-long Math Acceleration Academy is an academic program designed to accelerate student learning through hands-on, project-based lessons. The February Academy is designed to support students in grades 5-10 in advancing their understanding of mathematics concepts learned over the course of the last two years. Our hope is that students will not only get the support they need but will also build confidence around the mathematical skills and concepts that will support their success in the classroom.

Based on a range of data sources as well as a recommendation from their current math teacher, students who could benefit from the Academy were identified and families were recently contacted. Eligible students must be willing to commit to attending the Academy for the entire week (Tuesday, February 22 - Friday, February 25 from 7:30am - 1:15pm each day). The Academy will be run by MURSD faculty and staff.

If you believe that your child may be eligible for the Academy or are interested in learning more, please contact Amy Gilchrist (agilchrist@mursd.org), math educator and department chair at Nipmuc, or Liz Kadra (ekadra@mursd.org), math educator at Miscoe.

Lost and found items, if not claimed by THIS Friday, February 18th will be donated over February break. If you would like to come and look for your students' belongings please stop by the front office this week between 7:30-3:30PM Monday- Friday.

We have a new fundraiser; we now are collecting textiles for recycling! If you do any early spring cleaning over the February break, please think of us for donations!

Join the community on March 19 at 9am for the Nipmuc Youth Softball & Nipmuc Youth Baseball Shamrock Shuffle 5k road race! Register by February 20 to receive a race shirt; in-person registration at Nipmuc High School is from 8-9am, with all registrants receiving a race bib with timer for tracking on RaceWirewith (medals for the first 50 finishers). Miss Holloway is once again leading an expedition to the Andes and Amazon Rainforest for Miscoe Hill students and parents! This incredible travel opportunity sold out (at 80 people!) in less than a week our very first year, and was a phenomenal experience for all travelers!

Highlights of the trip include: standing on the equator, hiking through the Amazon Rainforest, river tubing, a waterfall excursion, visiting an animal rescue center, white water rafting, zip-lining through the jungle, visiting with the indigenous Kichwa people, soaking in thermal hot springs, volunteering at a local school, and SO MUCH MORE!

Students that are currently in the 6th and 7th grade are eligible to attend. We will be traveling over the April 2023 School Vacation. Easy monthly payment plans, fundraising opportunities, and scholarships are available to help make this trip accessible for all!

Families will be able to sign up on a first-come, first-served basis. Students will NOT be notified if they are enrolled, so consider giving the gift of travel this holiday season and surprise your child with the adventure of a lifetime!
