Freshman Focus @ JCHS

After 8 days in class, we are happy to say that we have had a great beginning to the year. We have completed all needed schedule changes, mastered the art of going through the lunch line and even received a special treat during our 10 minute break on Friday evening. Thank you Mr. Arms for rewarding the student body with popsicles!

As we shift into a new week, parents can expect to begin seeing grades input into parent portal. Teachers will begin updating the grade book so you can follow along with your scores. Core teachers (English, Science, and Social Studies) will also be gaining their group of students that they will individually track during this school year. The individual tracking of each and every student allows us to follow student data and properly monitor student outcomes.

Thank you for adapting to the updated drop off procedures. After we posted the information about the drop off procedure, we had greater success and less delays each morning. It is very important that we follow the diagram that was released last week and that we allow up to 4 cars at a time to drop off students out back. This creates a better flow and allows students to make it to class on time.

Emily Warne, a native of northeast Ohio, has proudly been an Eagle since 2008 when she started her teaching career at Johnson Central. While she has taught English at various grade levels, she is now focused on Freshmen English and drama. Emily graduated with honors from Freed-Hardeman University, Georgetown College, and The University of Pikeville where she was inducted into their Teacher Hall of Fame in 2018.

While her professional teaching career started in 2008, she has been teaching in varying positions since she was 13 years old. She started as a Bible class teacher, something she still continues at her local congregation. She also taught English in Peru and art in preschool. These settings, while all incredibly different, have helped to form the creative teacher she is today.

Emily is a proud aunt of four nieces and nephews. She enjoys home renovation, theater, all things creative, and rescue dogs.

In 2014, Emily took over the Johnson Central Players who have since produced 11 musicals that have been held at The Sipp theater every December and spring. She is looking forward to holding auditions for Elf very soon and encourages everyone to give theater a chance as there is a place for all who want to be involved no matter their level of ability.
