A Message from Mrs. Caudill
I was scrolling through social media the other night and came across this video and thought it was such a great visual to show the climb to success. When I think about my own successes and colossal failures, this is what it really looks like. Having the perseverance to get back up and keep climbing is the toughest part. We need to celebrate the climb as much as we do reaching the top. I have shared this video with teachers as well in hope that it might spark a discussion that success is not linear.
Stay Well,
Devon Caudill

Halloween celebrations and parade
Halloween celebrations will happen at Amerman on Monday, October 31. We will be having parties that day. Students can either wear their costume to school or be able to put it on over their clothes to avoid congestion in the bathroom areas.
Please follow these guidelines when planning your child's costume:
- Please make sure the costume is weather appropriate (students will go outside for recess)
- Students are responsible for their costumes not causing a problem during learning time.
- Face make-up, hairspray, etc. must be applied at home.
- No fake weapons of any kind are allowed at school.
- No fake blood and no scary costumes (if it would scare a kindergartener, please don’t wear it!)
- Masks can only be worn during the parade if a student has a full range of vision. If it impedes their ability to see, it should not be worn
Halloween Parade - Monday, October 31 @ 10:00am
The parade route is highlighted below. Students will walk in the parade route on the sidewalk and part of the blacktop. Students will loop around the inside of the school for their classmates to see their costumes prior to heading outside.
Parents are invited to watch the outside parade. We ask that parents line the parade route by standing in the grassy areas or along the woodchips area of the playground. Please stay clear of the sidewalk and playground blacktop where students will be walking. Please note in case of inclement weather, the parade will be cancelled.

Infectious Disease Response to COVID 2022-23
Students and staff that contract COVID should follow the Health Department recommendations and isolate for five days from the date where symptoms were present or from the date of their positive rapid or PCR test. Isolation includes waiting to return to school until the isolation period has ended. It is also recommended that students or staff should wear a mask for 5 days past their isolation period. See MDHHS Graphic below.
Parents should notify their child’s school of the absence reason so that teachers are aware of the student's absence period and our nurses can follow the health department’s infectious disease requirements. NPS School Nurses are available should you have any questions.

Leader in Me November Focus: Habit 2 - Begin with the End in Mind
We will be working on Habit 2: Begin With the End in Mind this month.
Begin with the End in Mind means to begin each day, task, or project with a clear vision of your desired direction and destination, and then continue by flexing your proactive muscles to make things happen.
One of the best ways to incorporate Habit 2 into your life is to develop a Personal Mission Statement. It focuses on what you want to be and do. It is your plan for success. Plan ahead and set some goals - begin with the end in mind.
Great Books for Habit #2 - Begin With the End in Mind
- The BFG by Roald Dahl
- When I Grow Up by Sean Covey
- Click Clack Moo Cows That Type by Doreen Cronin
- Little Bunny on the Move by Peter McCarty
- The School Story by Andrew Clements
- Too Many Tamales by Gary Soto
- Plant a Kiss by Amy Krouse
