Wolf Way Teacher of the Month
We would like to announce our CTMS Wolf Way Teacher of the Month award winner for the month of October. Here at CTMS we hold all members of the pack to the same expectations of following the Wolf Way. Just as we recognize our students, we want to recognize our staff that are upholding the wolf way here on campus. Students were given the opportunity to nominate one staff member for being Kind, Respectful and Responsible. From those nominations, we have chosen the Wolf Way Teacher of the Month. Here are a few comments made by students who submitted a nomination. He is kind and respectful as he teaches and respects our knowledge and questions…. He makes every student interested in math, and is constantly supportive of everyone, making sure that people know what they're doing, and that they're learning in the most conducive learning environment. He is a very kind person, and will help you if you need help. He has been seen creating student-teacher relationships with his students. He is also very responsible, as he keeps us safe and makes sure to lock the door. He is respectful to all his students and fellow staff. He shows his kindness to his students while giving them enough time to finish the homework, letting them ask questions, and always being very understanding. He is responsible for his students by setting high achievable expectations that he will help them reach. The Wolf Way Teacher of the Month is..... Mr. Barnard!!!

Bobby Bragan Scholarship
8th Grade Students:
Bobby Bragan, a former major league baseball player, manager and coach, established the Youth Foundation Scholarship in 1991 to encourage children to stay in school and pursue their educational and career dreams.
The scholarships awarded by the Bobby Bragan Youth Foundation are presented to deserving students while they are in the 8th grade, just prior to their entrance into high school, at a critical juncture in their academic career. The scholarship program is open to 8th grade students in 22 school districts in North Texas with the intent to give every child the opportunity to include higher education in his or her future and to visualize it as within his or her reach.
CTMS 8th graders are encouraged to pick up the application in the Counseling Office. These applications/essays are due back NO LATER than Thursday, Nov 16, 2023 at 3:30. Two finalists will be selected from CTMS and go further to be considered for a $2500 scholarship. Please contact your counselor for more information.

Stars of GCISD Nominations are Open
We're excited to share a new way we’ll be recognizing employees across the district for the hard work they pour into our students. Whether they’re in the classroom, or work in a support role to make sure students have everything they need to learn each day, every employee is a vital part of this organization. We have so many stars in GCISD, and this new program will give them, along with our community, an opportunity to shine the light on someone who is a star of GCISD.
I invite you to end your week by taking a look at the many “Stars of GCISD” who surround you, and nominate a deserving colleague today at https://www.gcisd.net/page/stars-of-gcisd.

Morning Drop-Off & Afternoon Pick-Up
Drop-off and pick-up occur in TWO locations: In the parking lot outside the academic halls at the C-hall door and outside the SAC. See the map below.
For the safety of all wolves, thank you in advance for driving slowly, keeping cell phones away, and staying alert and aware of others.
C-Hall Door
For drop-off and pick-up, the parking lot across from the football field is two lanes. Pull into the lane you will be exiting from, if you are turning right out of the parking lot, drop off and/or pick up your wolf in the inside lane (closest to the building) and if you are turning left out of the parking lot, drop off and/or pick up your wolf on the outside lane (closest to the football field). Also, please pull all the way up to let your wolf out of the vehicle. The doors to the school open at 7:45 a.m. and school dismisses at 3:30 p.m.
SAC Doors
This is a single lane drop-off and pick-up. The driveway is not for parking. If you need to assist your wolf, please park in a non-reserved space.
Volunteer Background Check
For the protection of students and staff, all volunteer applicants must read the Volunteer Handbook (in Español) and are asked to apply online authorizing the district to obtain a criminal history background check.
Note: All volunteers are required to reapply each year.
GCISD utilizes Volunteer Tracker for volunteer applications and signing up for volunteer opportunities. Please follow the steps provided to sign up. If you have any questions about registration, please contact App-Garden at support@app-garden.com or submit a help ticket.
Attendance Practices

- Please schedule appointments before or after school, or on student days off (teacher professional development days).
- Remember to call, email or do an on-line submission any time your student is absent from school. For illness, parents have 5 school days to send in any notes or applicable information relative to the absence.
- Doctor's notes are required for those appointments & illness lasting more than 1 day.
- Please email me at Elyzabeth.DuRard@gcisd.net, or call 817-251-5326.
I am so excited to serve our families. Please let me know how I can help!
Our success this year depends on coming to school all day, every day, on time!

Student IDs
Thank you for helping your wolves be responsible with their student ID badges. This is a safety expectation so we can easily identify who should be at Cross Timbers. Our wolves have been doing a great job remembering their IDs given on picture day or wearing their temporary IDs for those wolves not present on picture day.
CTMS Expectations: ALL wolves wear student IDs while on the CTMS campus.
Student Code of Conduct: Student ID Badges (Secondary Only) It is the expectation that all secondary students wear their student ID badges. Badges should be worn in a manner so that they are visible at all times. If students do not have an ID badge, they will be required to purchase a new badge or a temporary badge. Multiple infractions will result in further disciplinary action.
If a wolf comes to school without an ID, they will be asked to go to the front office to get a temporary badge for the day. Wolves will trade their cell phones for a temporary ID.
Dress Code
As you prepare for back to school, see below for guidance on the CTMS dress code.
- IDs must be worn at all times UNLESS in PE/athletics
- Shorts and skirts must be longer than t-shirts and sweatshirts and cover bottoms
- Undergarments should not be visible
- Holes in jeans cannot show pockets
- All shirts must have a sleeve (No spaghetti strap shirts)
- All shirts must cover the midriff area
- No hats or hoodies allowed on in the building
- Offensive language and/or depictions not allowed on clothing
Wolves will be sent to the office if their attire does not meet the stipulations outlined above. They will be given clothes to wear for the day, if available.
Nurse Notes
MEDICATION ON CAMPUS - SCHOOL NURSE
Below is a link to the medication permit. A new form is needed for each school year for any medications your child may require at school. You can print this copy and take it with you to your appointment with your child's physician or send it to your physician’s office to provide the school nurse with instructions. Controlled Medications, by State Law, require a Doctor and Parent signed Medication Permission Form with specific wording. Controlled Medications given at lunch time should say "To give at lunchtime." This allows for flexibility when schedules and lunch times change due to testing, field trips or other special days. Daily morning medications are given at home unless your 7th grade student participates in athletics and has a morning practice. Please call the school nurse to discuss and make arrangements.
Nurses are able to give a total of 10 doses for the year of non-controlled/over the counter medications with a parent signature on the medication permit, after 10 doses, we will need a doctor's signature. Please provide all medications in the original container and ensure they are not expired. School nurses do not keep stock medications.
Students may self-carry non-expired Inhalers and Epinephrine Auto-Injector medication only with a physician and parent signed medication permit (and the self carry box checked) and turned in to the nurse. Students are not allowed to self carry any over the counter (OTC) or prescription medications except the pre-approved inhaler and/or epinephrine auto-injector . Please do not send Tylenol, Ibuprofen, Tums or other OTC or controlled/prescribed medications to school with your student. This is per district policy and for the safety of all students on campus. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Riley Heimuli, BSN, RN, NCSN Phone 817-251-5337 Fax 817-305-4958
https://www.gcisd.net/common/pages/DisplayFile.aspx?itemId=23210634
**Please remember to label inhalers and epinephrine auto-injectors with a pharmacy label. Pharmacies will print an extra label for free. Unlabeled inhalers/Epi-pens found on campus will be properly discarded.
All other forms and authorizations (ie - Diabetes, seizure disorder, food allergy statement, etc) can be found on the GCISD website - go to Departments, pick Health Services and then on the left pick Forms and Authorizations.
