November is family engagement in education month! Did you know that the importance of parental engagement in schools is well documented? Over 30 years of research shows that one of the most effective ways to increase student achievement is for parents to be actively involved in the education of their children.

One way to get involved is by joining the parent/teacher association at your child's school! Click on a school to join:

Cleaning out your closets or looking for a place to donate new or gently used coats and jackets? Goochland Schools is holding a coat drive at each of its schools from 11/14 through 11/18. Please drop off new or gently used jackets or coats in donation boxes at any of our schools' front offices. Donations will be given to Goochland students and families in need.

Looking for support with food or clothing for your family? Do you need extra assistance around the holidays? Goochland Schools is working with various organizations to provide our families in need with school supplies, food, holiday assistance, and clothing. Click here for more information.

Youth Mental Health First Aid is a course that teaches adults how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses. The training teaches necessary skills to provide initial help and support to those developing a mental health problem or experiencing a crisis.
