Monday Memo
Hello Cougars,
Today's Monday Memo discusses our 2023 - 24 Celebration Calendar. Before we begin, we must pause and honor the memories of the lives lost on September 11, 2001. Our hearts are with their loved ones. It was a day we'll never forget. It promises our children and future generations to honor their memory and celebrate life.
When we celebrate someone or observe an event, whether for our teachers or in athletics, academics, or fine arts, we recognize the hard work, passion, and dedication people put into something they love. A perfect example has been our athletes winning in fall sports. Our teams are playing tough and scoring wins. Behind those players are our cheerleaders, color guard, marching band, students, teachers, and families supporting our teams to victory. We celebrate each win and root for more. Those on the field, the trails, and the court hear the cheers and push harder. It pays off.
Our Celebration Calendar informs and helps prepare for an upcoming event, such as our Homecoming Parade on Wednesday, September 20. The Homecoming football game is on Friday, September 22. We can come together as a community to celebrate when we know these dates.
The calendar provides information for every important 2023 - 24 school year event. It's a wonderful resource for our families and staff to reference weekly. The calendar aligns with the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA). Each year, the organization compiles a book outlining special holidays and education celebrations, such as Arts in Education Week, Red Ribbon Week, FFA Week, Custodian Appreciation Day, School Bus Driver Appreciation Day, Principals Month, and many more.
When we celebrate an event, it's a moment for a person to be seen and heard. It's a time to teach our students about historical events or why we honor a particular person, whether on a solemn or happy occasion. Each day of the year represents something to all of us. Knowing that brings us together as one community and that’s something to celebrate. Have a great week, and Go Cougars!
