RESPONSIBILITY, RESPECT AND INTEGRITY
Check out our Upland Strong Students
Kameron Calhoun (11th) has Integrity
Kameron is the only student in my night school class who has completed every assignment. He doesn't waste any time when it comes to school work, as he completes assignments within a day of being posted. He contacts me when he has a question and is always very respectful. Kameron is also maintaining passing grades in his other classes while completing my class as a 7th period. He is a student who demonstrates integrity by keeping up with his schoolwork during this challenging time.

Luciano Sandoval (9th) has integrity
Lucci is doing amazing since the school closure! He has made sure to regularly turn in his assignments without reminders, and his quality of work is superb. Lucci has really stepped up to the challenge of distance learning and tackled it head on; he is consistently giving no less than his best. Keep being awesome, Lucci!

Leslee Ciscomani (9th) is demonstrating responsibility
Leslee has really fired up her motivation second semester! She has a goal for herself for the end of this school year, and she is not letting the school closure get in her way! Leslee regularly communicates with me about questions on assignments, and she advocates for herself when she needs more time to work. Leslee has accepted the challenges set before her and has decided conquer them. Keep pushing through Leslee, it’s going to pay off!

We have the best staff
Daniel Carrasco has Integrity
Daniel had his class complete an extra credit assignment where students were able to nominate a staff member for staff appreciation week. When he received student responses he shared them with each individual staff member. This took him a lot of time and was simply done out of kindness. Thank you Daniel for trying to bring happiness to people even when you are so busy with your students.

Elizabeth Salazar is demonstrating RESPONSIBILITY
Elizabeth Salazar has been a great resource during distance learning, helping those of us who are not at ease with new technology to learn new tools to keep our students engaged. She is ALWAYS there when I need her and my students have benefited greatly from these new resources. Thank you, Elizabeth!

Joy Jackson has integrity
Even though Joy is busy teaching her classes and managing her caseload she went out of her way to help me with an issue I was having. Joy went above and beyond by giving me information that I needed. UHS is lucky to have her on staff.

Shawna Mitchell is demonstrating Responsibility
Shawna has checked in with me over the course of the school closure to check up on the kids she supports in my class. I really appreciate her being proactive and asking about their progress; having a second set of eyes helps tremendously! This isn’t new for Shawna, as she is always preemptively helping me and going out of her way to get things done for our classroom! She’s consistently thinking of how best to help our class, and not afraid to jump into action. Thank you for always stepping up, Shawna!

Megan Christensen is showing INTEGRITY
Megan is an inspiration to me because she is always coming up with fun new ways to teach content. She is not afraid to try anything and shares what she finds with all of us. Who knew bio could be this fun!

Jennifer Briones has Respect
Jennifer always goes the extra mile for us. Recently, I hurt a disc in my back and texted her that I needed a sub. (I was in agony, on my hands and knees, unable to get to my computer at the time.) She took care of all the necessary contacts and considerable paperwork, to enable my former student teacher to take my class for a few days as a sub. Because of that, when I was able to resume teaching, I was not facing a mountain of grading, which was greatly appreciated. She did not have to do all that for me, but she did because she is AWESOME!!!

Ryan Chase is UPLAND STRONG
Mr. Chase was in the middle of his student teaching when we went to distance learning and his dedication to continuing to meet the needs of all our 170 students was remarkable. He was always there to answer their questions and his willingness to try new educational tools made our students' online experience much more interesting. He finished his program but came back as a substitute for a few days when I hurt some discs in my back and was unable to work at a computer for awhile. Mr. Chase is the personification of responsibility and I am happy to nominate him for this recognition.
