It was wonderful to see so many students dressed in their Onesies last Thursday to support the World Wildlife Fund. All moneys raised were donated to the WWF. It certainly made for a comfy day at school! Well done to the students and teachers of Stage 1 - your assembly on Wednesday was informative and entertaining and it was great to see how engaged you were with such an important topic.

Congratulations to Caleb, Cameron, Zoe and Tess, who represented Banksmeadow Public School at the Multicultural Perspectives Public Speaking Competition at Coogee Public School last Monday. All four students spoke well and we are very proud of them.

I apologise for incorrectly publishing the date for the Regional Cross Country in last week's newsletter. The carnival will be held this Friday. Good luck to Caprice and Kane!

Good luck also to the students playing in today's South Sydney knockout!

Permission Notes

Thank you to all families who pay for excursions and school programs in a timely manner. Can we please ask that all students return a permission note to the school office, even when paying online. These notes are required for our records for all excursions and programs.

Donations Needed URGENTLY

The Wayside Chapel is an organisation that supports people who are facing addiction, homelessness and mental health issues. They are in desperate need of blankets, socks (odd pairs are fine) and underwear (particularly men's). If you are able to donate any of these items, please deliver them to the office area this week. They will then be delivered to the Wayside Chapel and will be used to help others, particularly those who were affected by the floods and heavy rains that occurred a couple of weekends ago. Your support and assistance is greatly appreciated.

School Gates - REPEAT

To ensure the safety of all Banksmeadow PS students, the driveway and pedestrian gates at the Wiggins/Trevelyan Streets entrance will be locked between the hours of 9am and 3pm. If you need to enter the school between these times, please enter from Brighton St - this gate will be unlocked. Please ensure that you close all gates behind you when entering or leaving the school.

If your child arrives late to school, please accompany them to the office and fill out a 'Notice of Late Arrival' form.

Cybersafety Information Session - REPEAT

The majority of students now own an iPad, iPod or internet enabled device. Many students use the internet regularly, with some accessing social media sites. It is extremely important that we take measures to ensure the safety of our children when online. The Youth Liaison Officer from Mascot Police will be visiting the school on Wednesday 22nd June to deliver an information session on Cybersafety. She will inform parents of some of the dangers that children may be exposed to when using the internet, and will provide some tips and strategies for parents to implement to keep children safe. This session will be held at 6pm in the Library. It will be relevant for parents with children of all ages.
