A note as the excitement of Halloween begins amongst our students
Respectfully there are protocols we have had in place the last several years that I ask all families/students to continue to follow:
- There shouldn't be any inappropriate costumes: This includes guns, knives or any weapons. Let’s take the violence out of Halloween, and please absolutely no costumes that refer to the homeless /indigent. Scary yes! Violent no!
- Group costumes are allowed. However we strive as a Catholic school to support inclusivity – we ask all students to be open, inviting, and receptive to those that wish to be a part of a group. Let’s avoid hurt feelings.
Tips for a smooth carline!
~ Do not get out of your car to let your child out. Our teachers and 8th graders will help the K and 1st grade students until they get used to exiting the car on their own.
~ Please have a clear sign with your family's last name in the dashboard during afternoon car line.
~ Refer to the diagram above for reminders of the car line traffic pattern.
Thank you for helping us have some very smooth car lines each day! I am grateful for your partnership and it is amazing to see so many students arriving to school on time!
Scenes from Youth Group
Grammar, math, writing, and cooking...we are busy in middle school!
3rd grade combines fun, collaboration, and learning!
Great hands-on work in our Science Lab
Specials classes are engaging our students and providing a fun way to practice skills from K-8
One of our electives, Breakout EDU, combines math, critical thinking, and problem solving
Winter Uniforms begin 10/10!
Last year we added an option of NAVY leggings and NAVY socks to be worn with the kilt/jumper. That option is still available for the girls this year but both the leggings and socks must be NAVY.
This year we are introducing an option for the boys. As you can see below boys may wear the long sleeve polo OR the oxford shirt and tie with their SKS quarter zip.
Monthly Math Challenge- October Challenge coming home today!
Congratulations to Mrs. Juliano's 2nd grade class for the highest rate of participation for September--26 out of 28 students completed the challenge! This class will receive a dress down day! We had a great response to our September math challenge. Way to go students and thank you to the parents for your support at home!
For October's challenge, the homeroom with the highest rate of participation will earn an extra recess period with Mrs. Crowley! Students must show their work to get credit for completing the challenge.
Thank you!

Students arriving after 8:15am will receive a late pass. Three late arrivals will equal an absence.
Early Pick Up Reminders:
* 2:20pm is the cut off for early dismissals.
* When picking up your child early, please be sure to sign out first at the front office. We will then call your child down to meet you. If your child is in the parish center when you pick up early, please be sure to walk over to the parish center to meet them there after you sign out.

Forty Hours Devotion:
Eucharistic Revival in Action at SKS
October 8-October 10
The National Eucharistic Revival was initiated by the U.S. Congress of Catholic bishops to restore understanding and remind us of Jesus’ Real Presence in the Eucharist. Forty Hours Devotion is a special opportunity to reflect on this mystery of the Blessed Sacrament. For forty hours, the time that Jesus’ body lay in the tomb, the consecrated Eucharist is displayed on the altar in a monstrance. All parishioners are encouraged to visit church to pray and spend personal time with the Lord.
SKS will observe Forty Hours beginning on Oct. 8 and closing on Oct. 10. Father Bill Gabriel, O.S.A., Head of Mission & Ministry and Theology teacher at Malvern Preparatory Academy, will preside each evening at 7:00pm. He will speak on the meaning of being a Eucharistic community. In Scriptures and in Mass, we hear that Jesus takes, blesses, breaks and gives the Eucharist to his disciples. Through dynamic storytelling and theological reflections, Father Gabriel will lead an adventure into the wonderful mystery of the Eucharist with Jesus’ actions – take, bless, break and give – as the points of departure.

So much to look forward to!
This month we look forward to some festive fun enjoying the beauty of fall and preparing to celebrate Halloween. We also honor our Blessed Mother during this month of the holy rosary. Mark your calendars for our next school mass on October 24th at 9am. We will begin in the schoolyard with a living rosary before mass. All are invited to attend!
God Bless You!
